I was going to say the same thing. It makes the most sense to let the damn kid play. This back and forth with Stewart who stinks anyway is ridiculous.

Romine has got his confidence and it shows. Another example on how the Yankees screw with a young players head. He performs and he is rewarded with sitting next to the fire extinguisher in the dugout, way to build confidence Yanks.

I can't remember which series it was but Romine and Mesa were bopping that day. Romine has improved to the point where Joe G should be giving him more playing time in these crucial September Games.

This is just beyond stupid. What the hell is it with this guy that Girardi loves so much? I'll tell you one assinine decision after another, whichever of you guys thought he deserved MOY consideration you may want to rethink things. This man is just not the sharpest knife in the drawer.

Anyone remember a guy named Posada? His rookie season he was the backup for an inferior catcher. ...

Al with all due respect Posada didn't deserve to start over the NOT inferior Mike Stanley. Who btw: was a lot better then Stewart. Hell Jim Leyritz was better also on that team & he was better then Stewart. So at that time 1995 / 96 Posada was not better then the guys playing in front of him.

Stanley was not on 96 team and in 97 it was girardi and posada with girardi getting the bulk of playing time.

Mike Stanley was on the '97 Yankees... that being said, Joe Girardi played 112 games, Posada played 60 games, and Mike Stanley played 28 games with the Yankees after he was acquired in a rare trade with the red sox... but Stanley did not play any games as catcher that year for the Yankees...

In 1996 Girardi hit over 290 so he earned the right to play the bulk of the games. He wasn't hitting near 200 like Stewart is. In 1997 Although Girardi wasn't hitting badly (264) in 110 games. Posada did deserve to get more time then he did so I'll give you that.

The point is though that whether it was Girardi, Stanley or Leyritz, they were STILL producing a lot more then Stewart is. There's about 30 games left IMO Romine should get the start in AT LEAST 20 of those.

Point I'm making is romaine is a rookie catcher and that is a huge responsibility you don't rush that development. Posada had 3 full seasons at aaa before being on the big team.
