I got a call 10:30 last night. It was my mom and she was alone in Vegas. She fell off a chair at encore casino and landed wrong. At the time of call; age asked if I would come and take her home.

Half way to Vegas; she called and told me the X-rays show her hip is broke and they need to do surgery. I brought nothing but the cloths I wore. Looks like I'm staying for at least another 4 days.

Does anyone know how long hip surgery recovery takes?

That sucks, mags, thoughts and prayers headed her way.

Stotts said he had both hips replaced over the summer, and seems to be getting around okay. Here's to a speedy and complete recovery.

Oh, and put $5 on number 23 for me.

How old is she? A broken hip is a very serious thing when you get up there in age.

Did she sign up for Obamacare?

I hope she has a speedy recovery.

Wow, only married a few months and you're already making up stories so you can sneak off to Vegas.

Just kidding, be sure to tell your mom a bunch of geeks from the internet she's never met are wishing her a speedy recovery.

How old is she? Make sure to ask the dr. about blood thinners, etc. There is increased risk of strokes, etc. with a fractured hip at advanced age.

Thanks for all the thoughts peeps!

I just talked with the surgeon and he seemed extremely optimistic. Said there needs no replacement and the fracture is in a place that has the fastest recovery and ability to still walk on with a walker.

Yes she still needs surgery. They are installing a couple screws and pins. Said they are small incisions. It is displaced; but not shattered.

Well tell her that all of the peeps at S2 wish her a speedy recovery! I know what it's like to deal with emergency medical issues with parents. Good to hear that the doctor is optimistic.

Also tell her to stay away from the slot machines. Blackjack is much safer. :)
