I try to travel as much as possible and all over the world, and I can easily say Italy is my favorite destination spot in the entire world. The people, sights, atmosphere and food are hard to top. I enjoy the Tuscany area the most . . . but I would rather be in any apart of Italy than working. Thanks for the pictures (recognize many), I used them to daydream for a while . . .
I had probably one of the best meals of my life at this farm in Tuscany. Just fucking outstanding. http://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowUser..._il_Turco-Montagnana_Val_di_Pesa_Tuscany.html Everyone is a bit rough around the edges in Italy though, I prefer Spain personally, although Italy is pretty dope, its where I've gone the most in Europe, most of the country except the southern part.
Venice is SUPER touristy, almost annoyingly so. My favorite part was taking the water taxi to the Island of Burano which was really nice. Multi-colored houses, you'll get some great photos there as well.
This is Assisi. We stayed here which was right a pretty nice location and was suited for budget travelers. http://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Re..._Hotel-Assisi_Province_of_Perugia_Umbria.html
Shooter - great photos. Edit: you too, Mr. Presidente. Didn't notice until now that the last few were yours. barfo
Yeah, I wish I had the time to do DSLR shit, its pretty dope what you can do. Just getting by with my point and shoot.
Definitely recognized some of those pics of Siena (you didn't mention it but I'm quite sure a lot of those pics are Siena), Florence, Rome, and Cinque Terre. I currently have a pic of Cinque Terre as my desktop background....studied abroad there two years ago. I'd kill to go back.
Banging backpackers is how I met my wife. We met in a Copenhagen youth hostel. First kissed her next to the swastika on the elephant statue outside the Carlsburg brewery. She was supposed to go to Munich that night, and I convinced her to go to Amsterdam with me. We got high and then screwed a lot in a ludicrously small hotel room in the red light area. (I need to work on that story a little before I tell the kids.) Anyway, a friend described the modern youth hostel scene rather drearily. He said you look at the bunks and all you see is the glow of computer screens. Kind of sad.
See, that's the beauty of it. Most of these young travellers are extremely inexperienced and naive. The guys cannot handle their alcohol, and its easy to out drink them until they get sick and go home. They also have absolutely zero game whatsoever and as long as you can talk in a coherent sentence without an "um", its good enough for the girls. The girls are amazed I have a hotel room/apartment, not some crappy hostel and come from California (they fucking love that for some reason, esp the easter euro chicks). And its easy to hit them up on facebook or whatsapp or whatever if you want to hang again the next day or in another city. Stupid jokes are funny to them and old tricks you retired years ago work like new magic. Its fucking beautiful.
Three of the pictures are of Siena. I got up before sunrise and hiked all over the city taking photos in the early light.
No. I believe the photos you are thinking of were taken on the Amalfi Coast, where the cliffs are extremely sheer. You can get some great shots just by standing next to the road and pointing the camera down.
