Well, right/wrong and legal/illegal are not the same. It's public property so defacing private property would not apply. Vandalism?

Wtf?! So we should arrest the people that dammed the Colorado. There was more defacement there. How about we arrest Mother Nature for every earthquake? It's one thing when you spray paint a rock; but shaking one loose and allowing it to fall is criminal?

Nah I don't agree with you.

if you get caught spray painting a rock, you should be charged as well.

I agree. Tipping a rock over shouldn't be criminal.

They tipped over the Goblin Rock formation at the Goblin Valley state park. The rock formation was how the place got its name. It's fucked up that they did that.

Fucked up is right! But it's also fucked up that there are volcanos, tornados, hurricanes, earthquakes and tidal waves.

And if I saw some dude doing that; I would beat their asses. What I'm arguing is "it's not criminal"

Seems like vandalism to me. Not up to me, though.

Press charges and let a judge/jury decide.

It's odd how you keep comparing those Boy Scout leaders to natural disasters.

I'm with mags, I don't see this as criminal.

It is disturbing to watch for anyone who enjoys the outdoors and maybe if there were signs prohibiting this kind of conduct action should be taken. But it was one rock and the people thought they were actually helping out. I would hate to be at a state park afraid to touch or move anything in fear that I may be moving something that is so protected I may be charged with a crime. I would walk around all day with my hands in my pockets making sure I don't step on anything that might get me in trouble.

As world war z quotes "Mother Nature is the worst serial killer"... If we could just prosecute her and sentence her to death!

Exactly! Could you imagine getting arrested for throwing a rock in a lake? The rock took millions of years to form too. How dare people skip rocks!

SO because some things get destroyed naturally, it's ok to fuck things up intentionally?

If the name of the place was "Only One Rock on a Sandy Lake Beach state park" and people come to that park to look at that rock then yes, if you throw that rock in a lake you should be arrested.

Did I say it wasn't fucked up? Did I also not say "if I saw him do that, if beat his ass?"

I am arguing it's not criminal; and it isn't. Sometimes fucked up things happen. Sometimes a contractor tear down trees to build houses. Are they getting arrested? How many animals have people killed in the name of progress? None of those are criminal.

If the contractor tears down those trees without authorization on public property they will be arrested. That is criminal.

If the animal is caught they are given the death penalty.

Unfortunately, well-meaning morons are a part of nature too. Seems like they were trying to do something they thought would improve the safety of the park. I'd have a few questions on this, like are there signs up about not disturbing the natural rock formations and are there ones warning of dangers of falling rocks? You'd think that most people would be able to figure this out for themselves, but these guys prove otherwise.
