    Huh? All it means is that maybe there wasn't as much speciesation (sic?) going on as some anthropologists may have thought. It does nothing to alter the timeline of modern humans.

    What I find interesting is how preserved this skull is. And the chart Denny posted. Crazy how these species; including sapiens could have all lived at at the same time period

    Evolution. Their ability to survive failed in whatever the environment was. If you have two species that eat the same things and one is really efficient at hunting those things, the other species could starve to death.

    Catastrophe. When all the animals of a species lives in a small area and it burns or floods or freezes, etc., they all could die. This is what is believed to have happened to the clovis people. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Clovis_culture

    Homo erectus did not exist at the same time as we did, so it wouldn't have been us that competed with them and won. You do have to consider that as humans evolved, our brains grew bigger and to the point we could be smart enough to farm or hunt something else.

    It's also possible that they simply evolved into something else - like us and neanderthals.

    Where are the babylonians today? The Maya?
