Decided to get a 10" tablet, what are the pros and cons of each? iPad? iPad Air? Surface? Nexus? Any other suggestions?

Keep in mind that my phone is a Galaxy S2, and compatibility while not a necessity, does count for a few bonus points...

I have an Ipad and a Galaxy S4. I have no problems really with the exception of being able to edit movies on the ipad...I can't find a good app on the Droids to do and I wanted to use Imovie.

Go Ipad. If you can, wait until Black Friday (order online or something) since its pretty much the only time they go on sale.

I'd consider a Samsung Galaxy Note as well if you like to handwrite stuff, but see if you would ever use. You can also use a Jot Pen with Evernote to do the same although I've never really used it.

    Sony Xperia Tablet Z Review

    http://www.ign.com/articles/2013/07/05/sony-xperia-tablet-z-review

    The Verdict

At $499.99 for the 16GB model, Sony's latest is right in line with the 4th generation iPad, but sports a $100 premium over the Nexus 10. Still, if you're in the market for a full-sized Android tablet, the Xperia Tablet Z is a no-brainer. With its quality, lightweight design and useful software features, Sony has succesfully built an Android tablet that has the chops to even make some iPad owners envious.

    8.8=Great
If you're looking for a full-sized Android tablet, you can't go wrong with Sony's Xperia Tablet Z. RT

    +Quality, lightweight build.
    +Good battery life.
    +Impressive camera.

    – High-gloss and reflective display.
    – Tablet-optimized Android apps lacking.

That's as close to a tablet as I am going to get.
I just put a desktop everywhere I want a computer.

I got a Samsung Galaxy Note about 6 weeks ago and really like it. I have never owned a tablet before, so I am not sure how it stacks up to the competition. For me though it is great and works well with my other stuff like my smart tv, Samsung apps, phone, email, etc.

Back in the early days, tablets were really clunky.

If you want 10", I wouldn't get the Nexus right now. I'm sure it is good, but I think it is due for an update. I could be wrong on that though. I have a Nexus 7 coming tomorrow! We are gifting our iPad 3 to my wife's mom. We only use it to travel, and it really isn't that small. Obviously, the new iPad is top of the line, but getting it vs a Nexus or other top Android tablet mostly comes down to preference. if You like iOS, get the iPad. If you prefer Android, get one of those. If you're indifferent, try them both and see if the iPad is worth the premium to you.

Also, if T-Mobile is decent in your area, get a T-Mobile sim. If you never use data, you get 200mb free a month. Then, if you end up needing it (go on a trip or something), you can buy a 1gb to use over the course of a week for $10. OR, if you regularly use data, they have monthly plans like everyone else.

    What is "a T-Mobile sim?"

To use any carrier's network you need a sim card from them. On most, if you don't pay, you don't get any data, so you are restricted to wifi. T-Mobile just changed their tablet plans where any tablet (whether purchased from them or not) that has a T-Mobile sim gets 200mb of data per month (which isn't a lot, but could be useful if caught in a bind). Once you hit that, you are cut off, unless you either pay for a one day or one week pass or sign up for a monthly plan. We've had our iPad for about 18 months now, paying $20/month for Verizon. I think we've used close to 0 data in almost every one of those months, so the T-Mobile deal is good for us. For someone who needs data service more, it doesn't impact them all that much.

Sims are normally 10 or 15 bucks, but they were having a deal last week (maybe still) that you can order one online for free and no shipping.

The 200MB limit applies only to 4g, right? I'd be able to use wi-fi wherever and whenever I find it, right?
