my response had nothing to do with your name, I just wonder why you think it was necessary to complain about Sly using BVD's real name, considering he's used it before. as to why he edited it? No idea. probably because he's a SlyPokerDog
Actually he has used his full name in his avatar photo. The one that he altered to show he was the 6th all time Blazer point scorer. And yes, you are an asshole. But so am I. And I'm proud of it.
It wasn't a cheap shot. I enjoyed the Road Trippin' series by Big John __________ . Not sure if the new management knows he did those so I figured I would draw attention to them. I think Big John ________ really represents the Blazers well as an employee.
I haven't read through all the replies, so I don't know if it's already been thought of... but do you think in that one thread where he talked about not liking Robin Lopez's nickname had something to do with it?
Yoda is as good at making the thread about himself as PapaG used to be. No, not you, new guy. How could that happen?
Ever since he left, when I post in the middle of the night, sometimes my keyboard gets ice cold and I feel a shiver.
Things are a-changing' with the new President. It's pretty clear. They've changed to money-making mode. Besides selling the naming rights to The Rose Garden, they are trying to squeeze money out of every opportunity they have, according to people I know with various connections to the organization. Putting at least a competitive product on the floor is helping with this shift, too. Even the peripheral people tied to the organization that do work for the organization, but that are not actual employees of the Blazers.... they are squeezing them for money via advertising and requiring them to buy their own seats (even though these types of people are REQUIRED to attend the games). So, I'm not surprised by some of the other changes, such as forcing HCP to be less visible publicly (if this is legit). I was always kinda surprised how vocal and free he was here, anyway. How long until Mike Rice "retires"?
Even though I can't put my finger on it, I get the feeling Blazers are trying to squeeze more and more money from season ticket holders. Ticket rep warned next year there is going to be a big change in the way they do season ticket pricing . . .
I know Paul lost a lot of money during some crazy years with the massive payroll and what not, but they had already corrected a lot of potential issues to start running things like a business. Taking this next step and bringing everything to the level they appear headed, business-wise....... how long until the "Paul Allen is selling the team" speculation starts back up? Or did I just re-start it up?
Seriously, I don't understand why Paul would even care if he is losing $ with the Blazers. With the kind of $ he has, he could TRY to lose as much as possible through his 2 teams and it wouldn't put a $%^&* dent in his worth!
It's probably Vulcan, Kolde and his vulture sister who care more, and certainly whoever is in charge of the business model and perceives his job, throughout his career, as being to maximize corporate profits.
That aside, fans should be rooting for the Blazers to be a money making operation. Allen isn't going to live forever and if the Blazers are always in the red because they can't turn a profit in Portland then there's a decent chance new owners look to move the team if/when they take over.
This. While I agree with many fans' viewpoint that Paul Allen is made of money and arguably spends a lot frivolously, he doesn't owe it to us to operate the Blazers as a money-losing operation. We're better off with it being profitable as Nik points out, and ultimately, it is a business, and Paul should be running it as a business. That being said, the more corporate the organization has gone, the less interested I've become in them.
