One thing I will NEVER understand is how anyone is a fan of a school they didn't attend or noone in their immediate family attended.

    Fucking BSPN.

if your father was a fan of Notre Dame growing up, because his father was a fan (despite neither going, and you yourself not going) that might be why.

My dad was an OSU fan back in my childhood (basketball wise though) and the only person he knew who went to OSU was my uncle. And at that time in my life, my dad didn't really give a rats ass about my uncle, or the fact he went to OSU. So because my dad listened to Darrell Aune, I listened to OSU games (both football and basketball).

    I think that's why I'm an OSU fan, tho I didn't go.

I do think, though, that a LOT of Duck fans are Duck fans because they're good and not because they grew up watching them. Same with all the Steeler fans I know, who are always talking about the Steelers or how tough it is to be a Steelers fan.

I mean seriously, there is a disproportionate number of Steeler fans in Portland.

I think it's fine that people choose a team even though they don't have an affiliation - but I've found that the most annoying Duck fans seem to be those same people. Don't talk trash about how awesome "your" Ducks are if you just became a fan in the Chip Kelly era.

Every Duck game I've seen this year, at some point I've thought: "The Ducks miss Chip Kelly." And they do. Stanford is a good, tough, physical team. But the Ducks simply beat themselves last night.

This is the mindset that I think most non Duck fans find irritating. Stanford beat the Ducks. They played better, they played harder and they played smarter.

The Ducks lost because they played a better team. Just like they did last year, to Stanford. Maybe the reason why Stanford beat the Ducks was because Stanford outplayed them and beat them.

First, I'm a Beaver. Second, obviously Stanford outplayed the Ducks and beat them (scoreboard). Both Stanford, and the Ducks themselves, killed the Ducks. Stanford by brute force and flawless execution. The Ducks by mistakes, sloppiness, and tentative play. Lots of TV commentators have noted during Ducks games this year that they "look beatable". Primarily because, they aren't as sharp as they need to be. It was a single mistake by DeAnthony Thomas that cost them the game last year. This year, it was more of a team effort. ;)

The Ducks are beatable every year. Like every team. You guys are absurd for quoting fans after a tough loss. The only fans that don't bitch and moan after a loss are fans of horrible teams. Stop thinking your fan base would be any different. (I am old enough to remember the arrogance of Beaver basketball fans in the 1980's.)

But do you know how ridiculous it is to hear non-Duck fans talk about how "beatable" the Ducks look when they win most games by 4 touchdowns? Well duh, every team is beatable. That is why college football is so great. But doing it is another matter.

You will have your chance in 3 weeks Beavers fans.
I don't take any game for granted. It will be a good game.

How did a thread about the Blazers turn into mostly talking about the Ducks? Lol. Still haven't checked FB or Twitter since last night nor replied to about 1000000 texts I got yesterday... sigh :(

Yeah, I noticed that too last night. Strange sidebar there. Oh well, maybe Mr. Daniels or Capt. Morgan steered it that way after the Ducks lost.
