Right now, I don't see a trade that I would make. The team is playing well, and even Robinson is starting to step it up. What is our weakness that needs to be addressed? I think Freeland has been a very solid backup center, and when CJ comes back we're going to have a real tough situation on our hands with minutes.

For me it's not a lack of enthusiasm on Asik's ability, I'm just concerned about his attitude and how he'd fit in (or not) with the team concept.

The game in which Freeland was out really showed our lack of front court depth. I've been wanting another quality big since the summer. But not at the expense of team chemistry. Lopez seems to have developed a great chemistry with Aldridge and everyone else and has shown he's a deserving starter. So I'd only go after Asik if he was okay coming off the bench (or if Lopez says publicly he's okay coming off the bench), and if not, we'd be better off going after a lesser talent. We wouldn't have to trade away as much that way either.

I don't see Houston trading Asik to a Western conference team. New York would be a good place for him. Asik for Shumpert?

They need a starting power forward. Shumpert would't make sense. They really need a stretch four.

I'd give them Freeland, Meyers, Crabbe and an option to swap future first round picks. Would give Houston a $3 million trade exception this year and save a ton of cash over the next two years. Houston could make it a 3 way trade where a team like Philly gets Meyers and gives up Spencer Hawes. Remember Asik is owed $15 million cash next season! Would Paul Allen bite that bullet? Asik’s cap hit is only $8 million though.

Chicago choose to let him walk because they didn't think he had any value on that contract, otherwise they could’ve matched and traded him a few months later. Asik looked great last season but is losing a lot of his value so I don't see teams giving up a lotto pick for him. NY might give up Iman Shumpert but then they’d have the same problems as Houston when Chandler returns.

A trade with NOLA really makes sense. Asik for Ryan Anderson straight up.

What, are you trying to rebuild the Magic in the Western Conference? j/k - I agree that Anderson is a very good pairing with Howard.

If they could pull it off, I'd go after Dirk. Can you imagine Dirk with Harden and Howard?

Yeah you guys who want Asik, are going to be disappointed. He may be traded, but it won't be to us. We have two guys (Damian and LMA) that would fill a need for them, and neither is going anywhere for Asik.

We just are not a good trade partner for them. If I am Houston I do not give Asik away. If they want a stretch 4 they should try giving Jones more opportunity. He was 2-4 from 3's last night with 11 rebounds and 3 blocks. He just needs some playing time. I would hold on to Asik in case Howard's back acts up.

Houston needs to be patient IMO.

That'd be pretty insane. And someone like Dirk wouldn't put up with their finger-pointing - I imagine he'd get those two to fall in line with the team concept.

Yeah that would be an incredible line-up for a year or two. But no way Cuban would do it.

I don't know.... Cuban let Nash walk. This is the last year of Dirk's contract, and I really don't see how he fits their longterm plans at this point.

I suppose he could change his mind, but he has been pretty adamant about making sure Dirk was one team player.
Plus as competitive as he is I just can't see him giving his in state rival another NBA championship. He is still pissed that Howard rejected him.

That is the one deal I believe would make them a much better team. They get rid of the player that is clogging the paint for Howard to do his thing, and having a PF that would stretch the Defense enough to allow Howard to do his thing. I mean it's pretty obvious they went "all in" with Howard. Might as well build the team around him right?

I wanted Asik last year, and jumped onto the Robin Bandwagon with a week or so of us trading for him. I'm a bit of a dumb homer though.

I wouldn't move an unproven talent like CJ for Asik.

Robinson was sensational. Is this something we can expect or is this a developing frustrating problem. In one game. Out the next three. In one game, out the next three.
