MDZ is a healthy scratch for tomorrow's game. Looks like AV is not happy with the play of MDZ. MDZ must pick his game up, or his tenure with the Rangers will be ending soon. It's a shame because he has the physical tools but lacks the emotional discipline to become the player he can be. As it stands now, you could not go and do battle in the playoffs with MDZ in any significant role

In a tweet in French, Renaud Lavoie of TVA Sports in Montreal noted that Michael Del Zotto will be a scratch tomorrow but that he could leave the Rangers via a transaction in the future.

He notes that Del Zotto’s name has been circulating around the NHL.

When Lavoie sent out an English version of the tweet, he wrote “Michael Del Zotto will be a healthy scratch Saturday in MTL. Don’t know if his future is in NY. Hearing trade is a possibility.”

It was reported last week that Del Zotto could be had in a trade but the Rangers would require a defenseman who could play the same kind of minutes.

It was reported earlier in the month that Del Zotto was a name being tossed around as the Rangers looked for help.

Del Zotto is an RFA at the end of the season.

Sounds like Trevor Daley could be moved soon, I'd look into him, he's not flashy but puts up good numbers and works both ends of the ice.

That would be amusing since Del Zotto was great vs. NJ and Girardi and Moore sucked beyond belief.

And that is exactly when NHL GMs trade a player. I would prefer they trade Girardi
at this point. And if there is a trade in the works, I would prefer it made with a Western
Conference team....the Avs, Ducks, Oilers, Yotes.

I just have a feeling it will be a multi-player/picks trade.

Does Sather go after extra draft picks? or ready players? Maybe both. Hate to see him
give up more picks, but if he does, the return had better be damn good.

Depends on the health of Nash. If they think he is close and has a good chance to play out the year then you need to try and win now

Sather if he makes a trade usually gets the better of any deal.

Through trades is the only way to improve this team. Ranger draft picks have been very average.
Nothing high end. McIlrath is a work in progress. How the Rangers passed on Cam Fowler is beyond
me. What is done is done....and the Rangers' scouting must improve.

Definitely Sather has made some mistakes but Fowler? Fowler is terrible defensively and is basically MDZ offensively, maybe worse

I am very against MDZ trade that has been rumored. Why? We scoring 4 to 5 goals per night lately outside of NJ which we could have scored 4 as well. MDZ is on first PP unit, and PP helps us win games. I just don't get it. How many goals do we need per night? Plus Nash is about to come back? Rumors Moulson and Ott for DZ is horrible deal for us. Both are UFA next season while DZ is RFA. If we want Moulson and OTT, then trade Pyatt and Poulout or our other "depth" along with prospects and picks. That is a great deal for Sabres. Vanek for 2 picks from Isles and few picks from us along with either prospects or "depth".

We have been raising MDZ for 5 years and now he finally might be able to play well under AV system after playing stupid defensive system for 5 years. Give this guy a chance. I am not saying MDZ is Letang or Carlson, but he might be solid, plus do not touch if it is not broken. We have balanced scoring now, plus first two lines are great and Nash will help 3rd line with Brassard at immediately and 4th line might be best in the NHL with Dorrsett Moore Boyle. Why bring anyone else?

    Let's not make mistakes here......

And Girardi is made out of steel. The guy is a worrier that we need to win a Cup. Please. He will get AV system soon. It takes time. I hope he resigns with us next year.

This team needs more scoring period. They might be coming around the past 3-4 games but they are still 24th in the NHL in scoring.

Trading MDZ at this point makes sense in the right deal. He is a RFA, will want $3.5-4m a year and I would rather pay that to someone else.

Moulson makes a lot of sense. I think they can resign him if they get him. Ott who knows but at some point this team needs to try to win. If Nash is ready soon the time is now

I don't know which rumors are out there or how valid they are. I do know our team sucks at faceoff's and still lacks some grit and scoring. However, I agree that if they want Ott and Moulson, I wouldn't give them crap back for picks and I would make them take back Pyatt, D. Moore and Pouliot with MDZ.

That post is very mis-guided 2009. First MDZ has not been on the 1st PP unit all season. Second as dis said in the right deal we 100% should move MDZ. We can find a much better place to spend 3-4 mill or so this summer than on DZ given our youth on D coming up soon. And lastly if we could get Moulson and Ott for MDZ and a toss in for the cap, I would do it for sure.

Ott is a strong leader type player. Is very good on faceoffs, which we need badly as dump calls out, and can chip in with some goals.
Moulson can score 20 or so here and be a top 6 forward, and worst case a top 9 forward.

To me that deal would be a total slam dunk for us. I doubt it happens though. With the new crew in Buffalo I would think they'd want a little time to evaluate the team before they made moves.

I would be surprised if something didn't happen with MDZ though. Agree or disagree, AV is down on him. When you scratch a player the day before a game, that says something. It either says a trade is coming OR I am so down on you that a day prior I need to sit you. Either way, not good for MDZ as a Ranger in the short term.

If they trade MDZ, they will sign Girardi. That much is for sure. They probably won't keep Richards. Although, if Nash is back and they pick up another scoring winger and Brassard doesn't pick it up, he might not be safe either.

I personally don't see how they keep Richards. I just don't think they can no matter how well he plays this season. That contract is a mess after this season, and after this summer no more buyouts. So I think Richards has to be gone for sure.

As for Girardi, I think he comes back also if they deal MDZ, but honestly to me it isn't awful. I bet you he doesn't get a huge raise from where he is now. He makes 3.4 mill this season with a 3.3 cap hit. I bet he settles in right around 4 +/-. And if someone else blows him away with 5 or so, I think we just let him walk. So I think the Girardi thing will work out for us. And for better or for worse I just don't see us dealing Girardi. He is a leader on the team. I haven't seen many/any signs that AV or Sather are down on him. So I just don't see it right or wrong.

If we can flip MDZ for a scorer AND Nash is back soon, this team can play with anyone IMO. That would be a good solid deep squad I think. With a great goalie.

I'm pretty confident there will be a team out there, Oilers for sure that will offer Girardi 6 years at 5 to 5.5 million.

And if they do, then see ya Danny G. We'll sign another dman with that 4 mill or so we have lined up for Girardi. No harm no foul IMO. I cannot see us breaking the bank for Girardi, and we shouldn't. 4 mill or so as a cap hit, that is all IMO.
