Agree on the hate for the ripcity jerseys. Coulda been a decent idea, but the execution is seriously lacking. It looks very amateurish
Like the 'Portland' red road jersey at the end the best, by far. Prefer 'Portland' to 'Blazers' and it sports cleaner lines.
Portland is a vintage hip kinda place, the cutting edge futuristic font and stylization of the pinwheel just don't embody the culture of portand the city. I Be callin it for years now ja. Richen the Scarlet to Wine soften the black to Charcoal. Pinot and Storm Clouds.
I wouldn't mind a blue uniform with a green pinwheel. Why do the colors have to stay the same all the time?
Branch out a bit. Thats all I'm saying. You look at all of our jerseys though the years and they are all very similar with little change.
Sorta like the Yankees RedSux Canadiens Lakers Celtics Bears Packers Cowboys Raiders Tradition, my friend. It still has a place in Professional sports
Agreed. Get rid of Silver altogether. No Silver road jerseys. 3 colors is enough. The only thing that should be slanted is (what I like to call) "The Trail" (lines on the jersey) that has been slanted for years (if they choose to use it). I would like to see them go away from "The Trail" as well.
No it wouldn't. People like to run around thinking that the Blazers uniforms are classic and recognizable and everyon in the world loves them. That's not the case. Many teams have made drastic changes, Color, Logo, Location Nickname, and none have been a marketing failure.... If you want an example look close to home in Eugene. Fans of the Ducks in general love the changes. Sure you get a few stubborns who hate any change, but in general people roll with it. Show me an NBA team that is less popular after a wholesale rebrand.
And we already broke from tradition many times over trying to stay with the times, but without ditching the 80's era. If we wanted to stand with tradition of the teams you list we would have to look at them and realize all those teams are "Legacy Teams" (excpet maybe the raiders) but they all have titles, and have stuck with appearances similar to what they won their titles in. The Blazers switched the year after their title and are still basically wearing that re-do. Sure you can look to success of the team in the late 80's and early 90's and associate it with the current look, but memories don't run as deep and most people think of the last 10 years.
As far as a logo redesign.... Straighten the pinwheel back up, then trim the legs at a 45 ... you know represent the 45th parallel a bit. Then you have the straight look of the original, with a hint of the slant. Make the individual lines fat like current, but not outlined.
Ask Detroit fans what they thought if the horse logo and uniform, or the 76ers with those gawd awful stwr unifoms.
That's what ALWAYS pops into my mind when I think of NBA redesigns. Pretty much everything done in the 90s was garbage.
OK so let's point at an era of Terrible design as an example point. There were a lot of teams with bad uniforms in that time period, and they all have changed since. We aren't in an era of terrible design though. We are in an era where classic and vintage is at the for front, not just for sports but for all elements of design. People realized that garrish doesn't have lasting appeal.
Well I'm not saying to change the logo I'm just saying maybe the Blazers could try some different colors. Maybe a dark green jersey with a red and black pinwheel then do the number on the bottom left in silver?
