To me, the real question is this:

Are we too 1-dimensional so that teams will be able to adjust and slow us down?

We are defending other teams against the 3 pointer very well because we focus on it. We focus on it because we identify it has a huge weapon. Will other teams be able to slow us down if / when they realize they need to put more emphasis on the 3pt defense against us?

I'm hoping that if that happens, we can adjust and use LMA to make them pay.

Koch was great that season.... No question about it. He's not a hall of famer but was Allstar worthy that season. Look it up. I know my baseball. If miss fanatic wants to quote baseball movies and compare with blazers then she better bring heavy ammo.

we can always toss it into Lopez or Freeland, have Nic cut to the hole..let Our guards dart inside, LMA roll to the hoop..all the things that make "normal" defenses and coaches go friggen crazy..frees up the outside real fast..I have noticed us doing that in games already

dunno..man..It really would not surprise me if they did. The factors are they have most of what they believe to be the building blocks for their future, remember PDX with Roy Oden and LMA? the young guns that played lose?

    They are in the east

A lot of teams have the potential to tank this season to chase the "all star" in waiting

what do you see I do not?

I'm not concerned about teams adjusting to our offense. If they defend the 3 then Aldridge will have single coverage down low, Damian and Mo will be able to drive, Nic can run the pic and roll. We have many options on offense and shutting one down will open another door.

I am very concerned about teams adjusting to our defense though. If we don't defend the penetration better we will give up a lot of layups. Teams have killed us inside, and they've still been missing numerous easy interior shots. If those start to fall we could give up 70+ points in the paint. If teams learn to attack our centers more they may get into routine foul trouble. I think we need to learn to switch up the defense and go to a zone for stretches, or at least experiment with double teams. Our default defense could be this "money ball" approach, but we should flash other looks. If an opponent knows a double team is never coming they can adjust their offense and exploit it. Good teams give an opponent multiple looks on defense.

Are we talking about the same team? Boston's best player is Jeff Green and Avery Bradley. They wouldn't start on hardly any playoff teams. Their injured franchise player is coming off major ACL reconstruction and is months away from returning. I wouldn't be surprised at all if they have the worst record in the east.

Don't flatter yourself. If you wanted attention, you just had to ask.

In response to your on-going inquiries: no, I’m not a fan of baseball, I am not single (it’s Mrs.), and no, the point of my post is not to draw player to player comparisons between the former A’s and the current Blazers, simply that both teams sought to win a different way from the big market teams. And Blazer fans should accept what the Blazers are trying to do before screaming about what’s wrong with Portland.

But those were all very clever and witty questions an observations, and I assure you I am thoroughly intimidated by someone that can’t find the edit button. I just want to apologize on behalf of intelligent, attractive, socially adept people everywhere, for whatever happened to you as a child that turned you into the colossal attention whore of a man you are today.

Of course, a great deal of blame lies in our education system. They obviously didn't take into consideration your special needs. I mean how were you able to keep up with the normal kids? You can barely string a sentence together. Think how happy you would have been in a classroom of your mental peers. You’d just be there all day in a room making things out of play-doe and elbow macaroni, how grand that would have been. Why couldn't they have realized that you are boarder-line retarded?

Oh, there's no reason to deny it. Your IP address and persistently antagonizing posters say it all. But by all means, please, go on.

As for ur moneyball theory.... Who said the fans aren't buying it?? Are the blazers in last place like the a's were?! Did the blazers lose 3 elite free agents? Is their GM strapped for money cause owner is cheap???

What you failed to grasp isn't the actual "money ball" series of events. It's that certain statistical concepts are winning the games. The things like trying to stop paint points moreso than three pointers aren't as important. Shit like that.

Just sit down and make that top forty mix

It's funny. If we lose these 9 games, people would be saying we should have won them because they are teams we're supposed to beat. But then, we do a horrible thing and win them, now we're still a bad team because were no good against the real teams.

Well, we'd be REALLY not good if we lost them and lost to the real teams too. So....

What about the team we just beat by 10 points on their home court? They have a $101 million payroll and will be paying over $80 million in luxury tax, and are currently in last place in the worst division in the NBA (the 1st place team is 2 games under .500) with a 3-7 record.

Their roster was assembled using the exact opposite of money ball principles. They went out and over paid a bunch of big name players who are way past their primes, hired a coach with a recognizable name, but no prior coaching experience, threw it all together and thought they be contenders and seriously challenge Miami's dominance in the Eastern Conference.

In my East vs. West thread I started last week, I hypothesized that this year's Nets are the equivalent of last year's Lakers. Old, expensive and injury prone. But, this Nets team is even worse and more overpaid.

    $101 million payroll + $80 million luxury tax = 3-7 record. That isn't money ball, that's waste-of-money ball.
