At least it's not as bad as what Beaver players do to sheep.

    Um, pretty sure it's worse.

But not I'm not sure what tlong was talking about when he said "sounds similar" to UO. Not even close. Not saying it doesn't happen at UO or other schools, but we certainly haven't heard anything as bad as this FSU writing.

I'm just smacking on UofO. I haven't heard of any goings on in Eugene. I'm just assuming the worst.

I know you're just runnin' your mouth. I was trying to take the thread back, though.

I'm not surprised in the least that there are colleges that provide this kind of entitlement and environment to their athletes. I think it probably goes to some extent at most universities, but the level that this letter discusses is egregious and just flat-out wrong. No wonder some of these guys get into so much trouble once they reach the pros, or just throughout life. They were bred to believe their invisible.

Child please. Your 8000 more posts gives you street cred? Who talks like this anyway, except HCP? You've been hanging around HCP too long - I suggest stepping away from the board for a few days.

I did read the piece. It's why I commented on it, and tried to bring the thread back. It's pretty crazy that when it was known players were going to fail, they literally disappeared from the class roster, even when it was too late to drop the class. Since it's mentioned that at least one of the players was a successful NFL player, I'm halfway tempted to review past FSU rosters, but I'm feeling lazy at the moment.

While it's pretty clear the professors are helpless, they haven't exactly done anything to curb the "free pass" given to the athletes. I suppose this piece ***COULD*** be the first step, but the writer is going to have to pursue and push it, or this will go by the wayside and the free pass will continue.

FSU reminds me of OSU under Erickson. Just a group of punks- many who didn't bother with classes.

LOL. Like Ocho Cinco? Guy came straight from JUCO just to get big-level exposure for the fall and then get drafted. Erickson had to know that was the plan all along, and probably sold Ocho on it. "Hey, come to OSU, work hard, win, and then go to the draft. Don't worry about school."

I wouldn't be surprised if Ocho Cinco never went to a single class (with the exception of maybe workout/athletic-related classes). I expect he was at OSU for the football season and was gone as soon as his final game was played. He's a knucklehead, and he proved it many times, including in the Fiesta Bowl. You don't score until you score (unless the refs give it to you).

UO outclasses OSU in many ways....... but I don't know if there is a better all-around coach than Riley. At least not in the State of Oregon. Sad when he left, glad when he came back. He's not a sexy pick, but he's not a whore to winning like Erickson. Guys like that create the cultures that exist at FSU.

Riley does more with less than any coach I have ever seen. He takes, mostly, leftovers and coaches them up very well. The main problem with OSU is that they can't get the depth needed to win more consistently.
