I guess Kahn offered the picks which became 2013 #9 Trey Burke and 2013 #26 Andre Roberson. They have no super-early 2014 pick coming up. So we would have gotten, say, Michael Carter-Williams this year and the equivalent next year.

If we had those picks, we would have had Drummond for sure!

Remember when Jaynes and Haynes liked the Batum-for-Williams idea during their MN/Kahn troll-a-thon?

with 2 1st round draft picks included though. Presumably would have been 2013 and 2015 1sts, so the #9 pick last year and what looks to be a great pick next year. I'd still do that deal, Williams is a bad fit in Minny and could be a great pairing with Cousins in Sacramento

Edit maybe it wasnt 2015. have to look up the articles i suppose.

Meh, I'm glad we didn't do it. Id rather have batum at his salary instead of those picks and Dwill and imaginary cap space.

At the time I was starting to lean towards wanting the deal, glad I'm not the one making decisions

He still looks like a power forward to me, but Sac is playing him at the three.

Wolves need defense, Mbah Moute is an above average defender. this move is actually good for both teams. Backing up Kevin Love on a team is like backing up Kobe on a team, a thankless job for a young guy trying to have an impact. JJ hickson was waived for nothing...came to Portland and jump started his career. For Williams, this is his opportunity. What he does with it is up to him.

If Williams can in fact play to the level of his talent, that McLemore/Williams/Cousins trio could be a pretty decent group.

    He is a PF.

MN tried to mold him into a three.

The Kings reasoning: They saw ex-Wolf Wesley Johnson doing alright this season with the Lakers, so they tried a similar high Minny pick.

No comparison. Hickson had been a key player on a Finals team before a short 1/2 season downturn in Sacramento. Other than that, he's had a very successful NBA career. But Derrick Williams, like Wesley Johnson, has been nothing until now.

He's an undersized PF. He's a bench player, at best.

When was Hickson a key player for an NBA Finals team? :dunno:

Okay, the Cavaliers were in the Finals 2 years before he was a rookie. But they went multi-rounds into the playoffs in his first two years. He was the regular starter by the beginning of his 2nd year. Some Blazer fans think we recycled garbage just because the Kings didn't play him for half a season. But he was not near the current accomplishment level of Derrick Williams, who was traded for a guy who sounds like you're clearing your throat.

He only played in one playoffs for the Cavs. The year they lost to Boston in the 2nd round, 2010. He didn't play a single second for the 66-16 team in the 2009 playoffs.

Hickson played a total of 79 minutes in 11 playoff games in the 2010 playoffs. After LeBron left, he then started for the Cleveland team that went 19-63.

Where are you getting your information?

It looked like most of his buckets were from dunks. It will be interesting to see how he improves in a different system, but I think Sac is making a mistake if they continue to play him at small forward. I do like their young nucleus though. Cousins, McLemore, Williams, and Isiah Thomas. That's a pretty good young core to build around.
