You say that as if we aren't already getting their best shots with the "best record in the West" target on our back. Ho. Hum.
The irony is that Portland doesn't need to be in the Eastern Conference. They are doing quite nicely in the Western Conference, thank you very much.
I love the disparity in reactions to this. LOL I didn't mean to put this on Casey. Just flicking him some crap. Didn't mean to offend. I stick to my original take it was a lame and harmless comment. And espn is what it is.
Has there ever been a greater imbalance between two conferences in pro sports history? And what's not reflected is how much worse those below .500 teams would be if they actually weren't playing each other most of the time. Two winning teams....Jesus! And think of all the bad teams in the east that won't even get a lotto pick.
Has it been confirmed that he actually authored the Tweet? I don't find anything wrong with the Tweet, anyhow. This thread reminds me of MM's "Meyers Leonard isn't sitting with his teammates at the Hoops Summit" thread from last spring. Basically just looking for something to be negative about regarding the Blazers. I'm surprised Mixlito hasn't chimed in yet.
If a tweet, which was obviously meant as a joke, is what takes teams to get excited about playing another team, that team is nothing special. I eagerly await Canzanos piece about this, and I wonder what the response would've been during the time when Steve "Eyebrows" Patterson was running things.
Canzano won't write about it because it has nothing negative to do with the Oregon football program. Besides, he just had his annual "sport fan with cancer" article published last week. He's probably on vacation now. It's not easy combing the cancer wards of Portland trying to find the perfect local sports angle to publish during the holiday season. It's like the week after April 15th for him if he worked at H&R Block, I imagine.
I'm sure the whole East really took exception to that tweet ... especially the 12 teams that are currently below .500
It was a joke. Just not a very smart one by the guy who did it, IMO ESPN running with it sorta backs that thought process up
This ended up on Mike and Mike this morning. Both said it was total bush league. Not this in particular, but teams degrading others with their official twitter account. Again, bigger story than some of you think. I agree, it shouldn't be, but it is
The east is fucking horrible, this is a fact. And clearly the blazers aren't too concerned with the internet faux morality police/ outrage peddlers, which I applaud, good for them
ESPN also runs stories about pretty much any time the New York Yankees take a crap, or the Boston Red Sox sneeze. Much ado nothing.
I can't help but wonder what the reactions would be if a team called out the Blazers on their official twitter account. This place gets it's panties in a bunch when a national writer says anything remotely negative about a player or the team.
