In the trade machine, Hawes for Freeland, Leonard, and Claver works. Would they go for it? Who the hell knows. I didn't think they'd trade Holiday, but they did.
I don't think that is enuf, but if we did not want to trade CJ I think they "might" go for Leonard and Trob
Just doesn't seem worth it to me. He's a UFA after the season. Not worth sending out two guys that I think have very bright futures.
Philly did trade one of the best young PG's in the league for the opportunity to gamble on the injured Noel. So I am guessing that a Hawes for CJ trade is not out of the question. I would not want the Blazers to do it though.
Can't remember if he was mentioned in the thread already. but Taj Gibson also a possibility. Not one I love a ton because of his contract, and also not wanting to give up on Robinson, but a Robinson-Leonard deal I believe works financially for Gibson, gives us a really good backup 4, albeit too expensive for me. And Chicago clears his long salary off their books in what is likely a lost season.
It just seems very short sighted to me. If we're going to make a trade, it has to be something that makes sense long term, especially if CJ goes out, or Robinson.
keep in mind Hawes is only 25 or 26 I believe and is a PNW guy, if we could sign him after this yr for a reasonable deal he and RoLo with be a great C tandem IMO
You are right, he's only 25, but he's going to get paid this summer. He's averaging 16 and 9 with 1.7 blocks and almost a 20 PER. He's a really good player, but I get the feeling we would have to send out a lot of talent to get him. Does he start over Lopez? This could really fuck up our chemistry.
does it really matter who starts? they both get good minutes and with Hawes offense ability in some situations he could play with Rolo. IMO he's a great fit on this team
Because when you have two starting quality centers, you run into the same problem that Houston is dealing with right now. It can be a sticky situation. Do you play Hawes as the backup power forward?
sorry but IMO you can't compare Dwight and Asik to Rolo and Asik, I think you check with Rolo if he'd be happy with 20-25 min per game and Hawes with 25-35 (some of LMA's backup minutes)
So if you play Hawes at both frontcourt spots, you have to send out Robinson. Is Hawes good enough to warrant trading Robinson, and then possibly losing Hawes for nothing this summer?
Yes to the Trob question, but if you trade for hawes you try to determine if he'd want to stay here, anything entails some risk
