When people complain about actual PEOPLE getting subsidies and say NOTHING about the BILLIONS of dollars in subsidies GIVEN away to Oil Companies and companies like Monsanto, it makes me shake my head. Where were you when all this corporate welfare is being handed out? You are aware that we (you, I and everyone in this forum) gave Exxon/Mobil a 153 Million dollar check last year right?

    Edit: I was wrong. $156M.

BofA too... to the tune of 1.9 Billion.... Understand who is SCREWING us. It's not the working stiffs. it's these damn transnational corporations that are raping our coffers.

In the small amount of time it takes so simply complain about a guy using his food stamp card to buy a snickers BofA just stole 9K from us....

And the fucked up part is that the Republicans KNOW that Food Stamps are an economic STIMULATOR (same as Head Start).

$156M. Really? I don't remember signing a check that large.

I suppose that you can make up any number you want that's between what they made and what they paid.

They paid no effective tax. The result was a refund. Almost all of the huge transnational corporations do this.

How the hell are you gonna bring up that when BofA got 1.9 Bil? Besides anyone who knows knows that Solyndra loans were started under Bush. I didn't see you complaining then.

And what are you talking about? So are you saying the subsidies don't exist??

The entire point I'm trying to make is people shouldn't complain about the money we spend helping our citizens when they say NOTHING about the free corporate welfare that these huge corporations are getting to the tune of Billions.

No, there are no subsidies. Read your own link. The part that defines the word subsidy. As in writing a check. The government writes no such checks as you claim to Exxon-mobile.

    It's bushes fault? LOL.

They were not made under the bush administration and deemed too risky. They were outright checks for $500M. Smoke screen failure on your part.

They don't receive welfare. They don't show up at the welfare office to collect a check.

Your logic is REALLY faulty here. Assume no tax deductions at all and they pay 99% in tax. You'd be whining they get a 1% "subsidy."

The reality is they are paying the tax they owe.

It's silly to me how you just sweep the corporate welfare under the rug like it isn't happening. Maddening how some people think.

How much taxes should they pay?

The corporate tax rate is 35% on profit. Feel free to define profit. Like, are they allowed to depreciate their equipment like any other company can?

Maddening that people don't grok accounting or how taxes work and then parrot some anti capitalist propaganda.

Corporate welfare. Actual government spending that supports the oil companies.

    Direct?

The Feds buy oil for the national oil reserve. Want to do away with that? Fine.

The Feds buy a portion of heating oil for the poor. Do away with it!

    Indirect?

The govt. builds roads so people can buy oil product and drive on them. We don't need roads.

The military patrols part of the seas to prevent pirates from seizing control of oil tankers. Let the pirates have their fill!

Meanwhile, it looks like the actual amount of checks written by the govt. to clean up the Solyndra mess is over $800M.

They do pay the corporate tax rate. Or do you think they pull a number out of thin air?

Accounting is only a little bit of basic math: addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and fractions.

There is a difference between gross and net income. Read the book.
