Scans are all done electronically and viewed on monitors. It's rare for doctors to use physical film these days.
That's true with hospitals and clinics that use specialized network software (EPIC, Cerner, etc.) but these are typically intranets. If the Blazers used their own facilities to perform the scan they may have to send physical copies of the scans to get them to Andrews ... as far as I know they're still bound by HIPA regulations.
HIPAA doesn't care whether the record is electronic or physical. Whatever office is reviewing the scan should have a system that's able to accept images to be uploaded from an outside source. It's not much different from dropbox, or attaching a PDF to an email. Instead they're sending a CD or thumb drive across the country.
Casey Holdahl @CHold CJ McCollum here at practice, as per usual. Not sure if he's had his CT scan yet. We'll find out post-practice.
I suppose. It's just weird. It seems whenever we've read about major injuries, images, and specialists the images are always sent as physical packages. In this day and age, and with the magnitude of the salaries involved...
Mike Tokito @mtokito 18m Not sure if McCollum has had tests, but he is being put to work throwing entry passes to post guys. #Blazers
FOR FUCKS SAKE!!!! Mike Tokito @mtokito CJ McCollum had his CT scan today. #Blazers spokesman says doctors will review and they'll know more in a "few days."
Hey, I'm just happy we're getting an update. It had been a while since we heard anything about CJ. I'll take a few days over a few weeks.
Same… As long as i see some progress, I will be happy. Hopefully the news will be good! i do see CJ walking on his own without crutches. That's a very good sign!
Well if he is partaking in more drills at practice its probably a good sign. I would guess they told CJ immediately what the results looked like but they want to wait until all the specialist have double checked everything and then they will make an official announcement.
LOL every "Blazer fiber" in me screams TAKE YOUR TIME, especially when the team is 18-4 w/o him - what the hell's the hurry?
I'm also in the "take your time" camp. I'm just curious as to the reason they send physical media across the country, rather than use current-day technology!
