From Fox, Rosenthal thinks M's don't have a plan maybe. What would cracks me up is if Cano has to be exiled to the American Rainforest for the rest of his prime with Corey Hart as his protection, nothing against Corey but please. http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/story/...-robinson-cano-david-price-nelson-cruz-121813
Now that Choo signed with Texas, Cruz becomes earmarked for Seattle. I guess in a very short time, we will know if they are done or not. I can't believe that they are, but I would love it if they were.
I too would love if they were... would show robbie that money can't buy everything... and he was better off here... screw him
I think (I hope??) that SEA realizes that in SafeCo, it's always going to be about pitching. Love having Cano and the others--if we can start winning 3-2 instead of losing 2-1, we'll be ok.
yeah, they have always been about pitching... you are going to take Cano, though, away from heavy protection, away from a hitter friendly park and put him in a line-up with little/no protection and not only a non-hitter friendly park, but a park that is significantly more difficult for hitters... so his numbers are going to be tremendously reduced... I don't see how it will greatly benefit your team...
I was deployed for most of last year, but I was under the impression that Cano didn't have a ton of protection last year? You could be right about protection--I can't pin all my hopes on Hart--but I don't think that a few fewer dingers (and more doubles) would hurt his production that much. Instead, look at it as an upgrade from a 3-4-5 of Seager/Morales/Ibanez.
He didn't have a ton, correct... but he had 27 HR... that was it... in a hitters friendly ball park... with some protection... so I would be surprised if he hit 20 this year
We make it sound like Robbie' s homeruns barely cleared the fence. Fact is he has tremendous gap power...he drives the ball not lazy pop up homers like its being made to be. Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk
Cano is an elite hitter, however, one of his negative traits is that he comes up hacking. I think he will have an average year for him, possibly with a drop in HR's due to home field. But I haven't seen the additional help that has been added being of any major consequence other than LoMo. As a former Marlin season ticket holder, the kid has game, the Marlins are idiots, LoMo may be the biggest surprise if he is healthy and can get 500+ at bats.
...there is a clear cut contrast between YS and Safeco Field, period. And no one said Cano always hits lazy pop up homers. But Safeco WILL have an effect on Cano's numbers when compared to YS. Cano's career stats at Safeco; .309 .350 .487 .837 ( 1 HR every 40 PAs) Cano's career stats at YS ...... .312 .368 .537 .906 ( 1 HR every 21 PAs)
I just hope the Mariners (along with GM Jack Z) have worse year than last. ....oh, one more thing, I also hope Michael Pineda helps the Yankees win a world series. Blg has spoken. HAPPY NEW YEAR!
