Phil Robertson suspended for "anti-gay" remarks

One day people like you will realize that people like me that say things like that are the ones who aren't racist. I don't give a flying fuck what color someone is born. I judge every person I meet based on my interactions with them. The word racist is thrown at people like me way too often. I believe that whites held blacks down and it was pure bullshit. What am I supposed to do about it? There are homeless vets on every corner of Las Vegas and I'm supposed to worry about gays getting offended by a throwback redneck?

This PC bullshit is holding this country back and fostering resentment towards the new protected class. I know for a fact that homosexuals get treated better at their jobs than straights. Corporations don't want to be sued for discrimination. One gay guy I knew told female coworkers they were too fat to wear certain clothes, and he bitched to customers about gay rights and religion nonstop. He was just a whiny bitch. They get complaints constantly but he never gets reprimanded. Weird huh?

Now that you mention it, it is weird that you assume the examples from your own personal life represent reality in the rest of the country, yes.

 

There's some crazy trolls in this thread. I'll ignore them and just give my view.

1) I don't agree with any of the crap PR said.
2) I don't watch the show, seems dumb to me in the 2 minute clips I've seen.
3) if I did watch the show, I would stop because I don't want to support these rants.
4) I would hope others would also stop watching.
5) but I would never call for him to be censored, if enough people are turned off, he will lose viewership.
6) I would rather hear all sides of an issue even if I don't agree. Especially if I don't agree.
7) A&E has ever right to suspend/fire him, they want to control the image of their brand.
8) although it's their right, I would rather they make whatever decision they come to based on viewership or true ethics and not based on lobbying.
9) GLAD is a wonderful org, but I would rather they put their effort into explaining their views and encouraging acceptance instead of trying to silence the opposition. Let the sides debate. Openly, loudly, and without retribution. Something about using honey not vinegar.

 

I'm not racist. I guess I should put a disclaimer like Maris. I made up the entire gay thing so it is weird. I literally hope you people don't get your blood pressure boiling over crap people type on the internet. The point I was trying to make without saying it too often was that words on here have no impact on real life. Just like Phil Robertson...means nothing to anyone with half a brain. Then today I saw Jesse Jackson is involved, now I have proof of that.

You're forgetting the main argument of these discussions. Some people think you can't experience racism or be racist unless you are the minority or considered by the left to be marginalized. A white rich guy is everyone's favorite target for racism

You bet it is. I now know the name of a guy whose show I have never seen. I now know that show is on A&E. A&E gets to pose pro their politically correct snapshot, making a stand for the gay community. And while I still have no interest in watching it, I know lots of people who are tuning in to see what all the fuss is about.

A&E gets higher ratings, and Duck Dynasty is more popular than ever. Win-win.

 

But the guys from Duck Dynasty aren't rich from the show, they are rich because of their duck calls.
