Asik has the same agent as Aldridge and Lopez. If this was really a solid deal, then I'm sure Asik was asked if he's fine being a back up. I'm sure Lopez was asked as well.

Actually you only need Leonard, Claver and Barton. We'd take on even more salary, but I doubt Allen cares right now.

I don't think that would be enough salary.

it would have to be. Although for Portland to get Asik, they have to send out...hm...I know the most a team can take back is 125% +100K, so the reverse would be...well, someone smarter than I can figure that out.

Anyways, Leonard, Claver and Freeland (I like Freeland) would work, but I'm not sure why Houston would even pick up the phone.

This guy is a freelance sportswriter based in the Philippines who charges $5.56 an hour to write about sports.

I'd do this deal in a second. I hope his "source close to situation" isn't attending fantasy camps with Billy Ray bates in Manilla.

so wait, are you telling me that a trade suggestion that included Portland fleecing another team, wouldn't work under current CBA rules AND doesn't cost Portland a starter, was written by some idiot who probably has no idea how to use the ESPN trade machine!?

Well this ruins my "Welcome to Portland, Asik!" banner I had planned.

well Morey has already seen that what he wants and what he can get are vastly different - reality is setting in and the longer he waits the lower Asik's value gets given that he gets paid 15 mil next year. And lastly how bad is his knee injury? that lowers value as well

It might not be a legitimate offer, but the basis of the trade is fare IMO. Claver is a quality Euro player. He is a role player that could fit in really well with Harden and Howard. Leonard is still a work in progress, but some time with the Dream could speed up his development. Throw in some other pieces with short term contracts to make it work and it is not a bad trade for an injured center with no offense skills and a 15 million dollar balloon payment.

I'm actually not sure if I'd want to do this trade if we have to give up our next draft pick. Look how screwed the NY teams have been with draft picks, its can really backfire in 3 years. If Asik is healthy yes I'd do the deal but for an injured big man with bad knees, chemistry problems, and only one solid year in his career? I'd be very careful.

I highly doubt the Rockets trade him to a western conference team. Now that its after Dec 20th they don't have to worry about him being re-traded from east to the west this year either. The Rockets think they can contend this year so I bet he ends up on the Celtics, Bobcats, Nets, Hawks type of team.

He won't. We'd have the same situation all over again.

This trade really scares me. Lopez is playing great and says he is having the most fun he's ever had. Do we really want to take a chance of screwing that up?
