You said earlier that your excuse for Bush not defending the Karachi consulate before its 2nd fatal attack was that it's okay, since those killed didn't include an ambassador. You said the same principal holds for excusing Bush before the 3rd fatal attack at the same Karachi consulate. I'm trying to discern Republican ethics. So as long as an ambassador doesn't die, any number of non-ambassador deaths, occurring multiple times at the same embassy or consulate, from repeated terrorist attacks, is okay, as long as a Republican is President. Did I get that right?
I said no such thing. You'll have to ask a republican about their ethics. What Bush didn't do was lie about any such attacks the next day. Nor did his administration order the cavalry to stand down.
I said that Republicans didn't raise the roof over Bush allowing repeated terrorist atacks at the same location, in both Karachi and Yemen. You answered that since no ambassador died, there's nothing to criticize.
Republicans aren't making any noise about other embassy attacks on Obama's watch. Like the one in Egypt at about the same time. Because Obama didn't lie about what went on during those attacks.
Next time you're the President, let's see you fight wars, transfer SAMs around, etc., without covering things up. I'm against the war in Syria, and almost all wars, but in war, many lies are told, and many dirty things happen. I watched Defense Secetary Cheney tell the nation that Iraq War 1 was in the mop up stage, 2 days after it started. I knew he was lying. It peaked a week or two later, and lasted about a month. I can think of other lies. Reagan lying that we weren't supplying the Contras comes to mind. Bush denying torture, etc.
So let's see. We know that this secret that was supposed to be kept secret is no longer a secret and we lost the ambassador, too? Boy these guys are good. At the point the ambassador was dead, there was no point in lying anymore. Get it? Oh yeah, there was a point. Obama was trying to get reelected and the whole thing made it clear how bad his foreign policy really has been.
What is the secret that everyone knows? I speculate that the reason is SAMs stored in Benghazi in transit to Syria, only because the CNN news video above reports that as a rumor. I don't know the reason. But I know from various articles that Western intelligence recruits Libyan Muslims who want to fight, to go to Syria and thus not disturb Libyan reconstruction. Do you dispute that we have secrets in Benghazi that need to be kept secret? If not, why are you bothered that the President won’t disclose them to the world? No I don’t. How does that change the necessary secrecy in what’s going on in Libya, as I just described? There you go again. Politicizing national security. Did Democrats claim at every turn in Bush’s wars that he was just trying to get reelected? For example, when he announced the Surge, some favored it and some didn’t for tactical reasons, but no one accused him of doing it for political reasons. You conspiracy thinkers always claim an ulterior motive.
I really don't give a shit what his secret is, the problem is he got some guys killed and hasn't done shit about it. Blaming the mess on some dumb ass video says he thinks we are all stupid. Then you see, he is right in a way, you and too many fall for this shit and that really pisses me off.
Here were Obama’s options. 1. Send in the CIA to infiltrate, find leaders, and kill them. 2. Bomb Libya, which is in a revolutionary condition, and cause the factions to overthrow the government we installed and replace it with one that hates us. No press conferences would announce #1. It was widely reported many months ago that #1 was happening. So he was doing shit about it. About 3 months ago, it was quietly reported (I linked to it in one of the many repetitive Benghazi threads) that dozens of Libyans (including leaders like judges) were suddenly being assassinated.
Apparently the secret is out. You know all about it. The cover was blown by letting the ambassador die. What if they went and rescued him? Where is the harm that would have been done? None that I can see, even in your conspiracy theory. I'm not politicizing anything. Obama did by lying. The reason for the lie.
Not properly preparing for the possibility of an attack on September 11th was just stupid. Not sending in troops to try to rescue those people after the attack had begun was just criminal. The vision of President Obama and Secretary Clinton spreading a story they knew was a lie with the four flag-covered coffins as a prop disgusts me to this day.
You said I know some secret, that apparently you know. I answered, no I don't, and asked for what that is. You repeated that I know some secret. Then you accused me of having a conspiracy. Hokay Denny, it's off to bed for you. Sleep it off.
You should write for Fox. We both know you're bright enough to spark up their propaganda. I'll write a referral letter if you'd like.
Secretly (but only you know the secret!) send in the CIA to kill leaders. Plus "About 3 months ago, it was quietly reported (I linked to it in one of the many repetitive Benghazi threads) that dozens of Libyans (including leaders like judges) were suddenly being assassinated." Adds up to a conspiracy theory. In any case, you haven't explained away why they had to let the ambassador die and then lie about it for the next few months.
Aw we can let the Jillpoke skate on this question, What I want to know is why does OBama get to skate? Those five destroyers that he had on the line to blast the shit out of Syria were were in the Med less than a days sail from Benghazi when the attack began. Two were in the Ionian Sea at the time, three were in Naples. Even Naples to Benghazi is not too far, 500 knots or less than 17 hours at flank speed for a Burke Class destroyer and the Ionian Sea is half that. They were still there 30 hours after the attack started when the last man died. The question of course is why? That fucking video is not part of the necessary answer. Mrs. Clinton or Barrack Obama neither one should ever be allow to skate on giving the answer, ever, for ever.
What's funny is that I didn't even bump this thread, and HAAK72 had to go back to September to find this thread that I posted on Benghazi. The rest of September, all of October/November/December, and half way through January, I post another. 4 months in between posting Benghazi threads. Yet I start them all the time. :MARIS61:
Militant Sentenced to 19 Years for Role in Benghazi Attacks A federal judge has sentenced a Libyan militant to 19 years in prison for helping to plan the 2012 attacks in Benghazi. A federal judge has sentenced Mustafa al-Imam to 19 years in federal prison for helping to plan the 2012 attacks in Benghazi. The sentence came several months after a federal jury in Washington convicted Mustafa al-Imam of supporting the extremist militia that launched the fiery assaults on the U.S. compounds. (FBI via AP) The Associated Press By JIM MUSTIAN, Associated Press NEW YORK (AP) — A federal judge on Thursday sentenced a Libyan militant to more than 19 years in prison for his role in the 2012 Benghazi attacks that killed four Americans, including the U.S. ambassador. A jury convicted Mustafa al-Imam last year of conspiring to support the extremist militia that launched the fiery assaults on the U.S. compounds but deadlocked on 15 other counts. The attacks, aimed at killing American personnel, prompted a political fracas in which Republicans accused the Obama administration of a bungled response. Al-Imam was sentenced to a total of 236 months behind bars. He is the second militant convicted in the attacks that killed Ambassador Chris Stevens, communications specialist Sean Smith and security officers Tyrone Snowden Woods and Glen Anthony Doherty. The head of the Islamist militia who directed the siege, Ahmed Abu Khattala, was convicted in 2017 on terrorism-related charges and sentenced to 22 years in prison. Khattala was accused of driving to the diplomatic mission on Sept. 11, 2012, and breaching the main gate with militants who attacked with assault rifles, grenades and other weapons. The initial attack killed Stevens and Smith and set the mission ablaze. Woods and Doherty were later killed at a CIA annex. On Thursday, federal prosecutors in Washington asked U.S. District Judge Christopher Cooper to send a message to others contemplating attacks on Americans overseas, saying al-Imam deserved the maximum 35-year sentence. "In the current geopolitical environment, terrorists must understand that there are harsh consequences for attacking diplomatic posts and harming U.S. personnel — particularly a U.S. ambassador," Assistant U.S. Attorney John Cummings wrote in a court filing. Defense attorneys said al-Imam made a “tremendous mistake” by damaging and looting U.S. property after the attacks. But they insisted there was no evidence he intended to harm any Americans, noting jurors could not reach a verdict on the murder charges al-Imam faced. “Mustafa al-Imam is a frail, uneducated and simple man,” they wrote in a court filing. "He is not a fighter, an ideologue or a terrorist. He is a former convenience store clerk whose main loves in life are soccer and family." Al-Imam was tried in a civilian court despite the Trump administration's earlier contention that such suspects are better sent to Guantanamo Bay. His arrest, five years after the attack, was the first publicly known operation since President Donald Trump took office targeting those accused of involvement in Benghazi. Prosecutors acknowledged there was no evidence that al-Imam “directly caused” the killings at the U.S. compounds. But they said he aligned himself with Khattala and acted as his “eyes and ears” at the height of the attacks. During a four-week trial in Washington, prosecutors pointed to phone records that showed al-Imam was in the vicinity of the mission and placed an 18-minute call to Khattala during a “pivotal moment” of the attacks. Al-Imam also entered the U.S. compound, prosecutors said, and took sensitive material that identified the location of the CIA annex about a mile away from the mission as the evacuation point for Department of State personnel. In interviews with law enforcement following his 2017 capture in Misrata, Libya, he admitted stealing a phone and map from the U.S. mission. https://www.usnews.com/news/politic...nced-to-19-years-for-role-in-benghazi-attacks
He should have gotten more time. By the way, U.S. News and World Report has been my favorite news magazine since I picked up my first copy in 1960.
