Oh, poor little Chucky. Never really likes to hear the truth. Always thinks a move or two will make this team a SC winner.
Has nothing to do with that. We 100% need a mini re-make this summer no questions asked. But you two go too far. Like everything is terrible and awful. Re-build from scratch and we'll see you in 3 or 4 years. I don't see it that way at all. With all the cap space we have this summer, and the free agents we have, we can get it done this summer with the right moves.
62, we both did not want that Nash trade. I have been screaming not to do this. I think it is time to dismantle this team and do a complete rebuild, but first Sather must go. I disagree with many of you on Girardi. The guy is made out of steel and play on top pair for many years, since Tyutin right? Why did we let Tyutin go in the first place? Girardi does not get hurt and he will play for many years to come. Look at Rozy, he contributed some major minutes for Hawks in their championship run and he is probably one of the slowest Ds in the league. Giradi will not get hurt and will play until he is 40. If we have to overpay for him then that is what we shall do. If Stall was healthy then yes, I agree we can let Girardi go but Stall is one hit away from ending his career. He is a decent shutdown D who is home grown. Do not make the same mistake as we did with Prust, Orr, Dubi, AA and others that we let go and/or traded. Also, I do not see why we are trading DZ for another DZ? Cody Fransen probably the only guy who is okay to trade with but all other rumors just not making sense to me.
See, dismantle the team and do a complete re-build. Not happening. If we planned to do that, why re-sign Hank? In NY no shot we do that and punt on 3 years or so of Hank's and Nash's primes.
I agree Nash has not played well at all but the guy has trade value and would return to his old scoring ways on most other NHL teams. I think the problem with Nash is when teams take a run at him like Stuart in the San Jose game they know there will be no retaliation, that chump Asham should have been released the next day for doing nothing. I don't care who you are if you feel your teammates don't have your back you have to look out for #1. This Rangers softness has been the case for years. Boyle gets bum rushed and pummeled by McGratton with no retaliation (I still think that's where Torts lost a lot of this team, he should have dressed John Scott the next game); Phaneuf illegally boards Sauer and ends his career, nothing from the Rangers but hands in the air and pleas to the refs; Staal gets levelled by his brother and nothing but a glare or two; McDonough elbowed in the head and concussed by Cooke with no similar response. This is why you need a goon or two during the regular season and why it's maddening to read posts from the hockey pacifists who say there's no place for fighters, the Rangers offer a concrete example of what happens to the team that takes the high road and counts on the officiating to keep things fair. Clean hit or not Bernier should have had to answer for dropping the shoulder on Staal, Dorsett is the only guy on the roster who seems to understand this but his size keeps him from being effective. I also think Nash is learning that when you don the Blueshirt the mostly Canadian officiating crews show their lack of professional integrity and turn a blind eye to cheap shots. Nash didn't dive at the end of the Cap game, he was thrown to the ice, should have been holding/interference/tripping but no whistle. Years ago I remember Shanahan marveling at the lack of calls against his teammate Jagr. I think this plays a big part in how Nash plays now, if he charges forward he's going to be slashed or tripped and there will be no call but if he even raises his stick to the waist level of an opponent he's going to the box. This has been the case for decades, NHL officials are like Professional wrestling refs, they always seem to be looking the other way when there's a penalty committed on a Ranger but see everything done including things that aren't there by a Ranger.
Chuck, this team is going to get worse and worse. We have maybe 2 good prospects, that is it. We are done. Nash sucks, and he will not work on this team. We had a chance to win few years ago by being a hard team to play against. Maybe you right, and we had no chance of winning that way because guys will get tired by ECF but it was the best chance we had without tanking for 5 years. Now this team is done.
I guess we'll find out this summer and into next season 09. I think we can be re-made this off-season and be near the top next season, but we will see. What I can say is right or wrong, no shot we do this complete re-make and dismantle the whole team. Just not happening. No shot at all.
Panz, I agree with you but you have a few if the facts wrong... The 2011-2012 team was very tough, led the league in fights and manhandled teams like the flyers and bruins... Also, Carkner jumped Boyle, Boucher hit Staal and Phanuef layer a clean hit on Sauer, he just unfortunately hit his head on the ice. All in all this team needs to become tougher, they are soft as hell right now. They aren't skilled like the Red Wings to play a puck possession game
I'd like to know when Sather is gong to get smart and find the players who are big enough, strong enough and physical enough to protect their franchise players? While I like the fact that Boyle has no problem going after certain players, I would not want him watching my back if I were on the ice with him.
WTF? Nash makes the Canadian Olympic team. So typical how this league rolls. Has anybody watched how this overrated, one dimensional player has performed this year? What a crock.
you and me both man, i was dumb founded by him making the team. almost as bad an the Americans not selecting bobby ryan.
In 54 Olympic games Nash has 53 points, 26 of them goals. I'd say that's reason enough but he and Cindy are good buddies - clincher.
I love how Nash has 2 concussions, a bad playoff last year and a slow start this year and he is a terrible player He was a total beast in the Olympics last time playing with Toews and as Panzer says 26 goals in 54 Olympic games....Uh, that's your answer Nash haters Go root for the Blue Jackets already
Dis, you're kidding right. I don't remember anyone saying he is terrible. What he's done in the olympics not only hasn't translated here, has nothing to do with what he's done here. I couldn't care less if he scored 200 points in 50 olympic games, or 100 goals in a season for CBJ. If he scored for us like he did 5 years ago for CBJ we'd all love him. And for those of us who won't love him until he actually does something for us, like he was expected to do, saying go root for CBJ is just crap. Are you saying our criticism of someone means we can no longer be fans, or we can't criticize who you like, or can only criticize who you do like? Really.
I think Dis is referring to the people above who were "shocked" that Nash made team Canada even though he has those kind of international numbers.
Yup. Was referring to CAGED who called it a "crock" that such a "1 dimensional player" would make the Olympics despite the fact he DOMINATED the Vancouver games playing with Toews and as another poster suggested his Olympic production has been great over his career. Here is the bottom line on Nash.....He has been disapointing this year and in last years playoffs. He was GREAT last year regular season. Concussions are strange things. I am not making excuses for him, he needs to be better....But alot of our fanbase including you 62 have already written him off as bust. Foolish. The guy is one of the most skilled players in the NHL and he can still get going. I admit I was one of the guys who viewed getting Nash as one of the final pieces but I also think he can and will play much better. Especially if he is concussion free.
