Even with our recent slew of losses, as of today, Portland owns the third-best record in the league. Almost half-way through the season, and we have the same record as the world-champion Miami Heat!

It's all pretty unbelievable, considering where we were last year. It's turning out to be an amazing year.

"owns" sounds misleading to me, considering we're tied with three teams.

We need to win these next two games. That way if we at least go 1-3 on that trip we will salvage a 3-3 record over that span.

I would like to see us hit 30 w's at the mid way mark though. So we need that 1 road win to come in the first 3 games of that trip.

The first game at San Antonio the Blazers will be rested and fresh. The second game is a back to back against Dallas, but they'll be flying in from Phoenix playing on the second of a back to back as well. The third game is at Houston but we'll have a day off. I think we have a shot of winning every one of those games.

I don't see any way we can win that fourth game in five nights against a rested OKC team though.

Not making any predictions here, but have you seen the way OKC has been playing lately? They've had some huge 4th quarter melt downs and have lost to so sub-.500 teams at home. Who knows what will actually happen, but it's not like they are unbeatable at home. Plus, our guys seem to get up for playing the Thunder.

If we go 2-2 on the road trip I consider it a success. That thing is no joke. I say wins at Houston and Dallas, IMO.

Given Blazers defense . . . time to start re-thinking Asik?

We're only tied with two teams: MIA and OKC and we currently hold the tie breaker with OKC.

I'm surprised to see SAS at the top of the Western Conference given how they've struggled against the other top teams. However, they are a veteran team and do a very good job winning the games they should win. They only have 1 loss to sub .500 teams. The Blazers have 4, OKC has 3, IND 2 and MIA has 7 losses to sub .500 teams.

The way this season goes, I wouldn't be surprised if we sweep this Texas trip. Just the way it's been.

Ha! Dang that would be good. You talk like a man that is accustomed to having good things happen. There must be far more behind it than just being a homer.

Me either, and Im cautiously optimistic about this up coming trip. However Ive been a broken hearted basketball fan for so long its nice to just enjoy the ride with no expectations. I think the AS break will be a good point to reflect and look forward.

The Case for and Against Portland Trail Blazers' Breakout Start

    http://bleacherreport.com/articles/...l-blazers-breakout-start?utm_campaign=buzztap

Portland is the best story of the year so far, and one big reason why is its long-range shooting. Matthews is having a fantastic year shooting the ball, and he should be in the discussion for most improved player. Simply put, Matthews has been great beyond the arc, but much of that greatness is along the left wing and in the left corner, where he is arguably the best shooter in the league this year
