Time for Kuroda, Ichiro and Matsui to take him for Sushi at Morimoto's.

Sources say down to Yanks and dodgers. Only possible fly in the ointment is the wife supposedly wants the west coast but nothing that a few extra dollars shouldn't be able to sway

...meh, maybe the Yanx can throw in a chartered jet any time Kuroda wants to spend an off day at home...and whenever the Yanx are playing on the west coast give him an extra day or so to visit his family.
...I can't believe the wife preferring the west coast is that big of a deal, because if it were, why would Tanaka even talk to any other teams unless they are on the west coast?

I'm supposed to believe that a Japanese man consults his wife about a business decision? His mistress, maybe....but not the wife. This was reported by someone without a clue regarding Japanese culture.

No doubt, one of the main factors influencing his West Coast choice would be the huge Japanese American population in Southern Cal.

Yankees better get Tanaka then they have to find a better 3rd baseman and maybe sign Balfour I or another bullpen arm or two. Screw the 189 mandate.

^^^one way or another, there's no way they'll be under $189...said it last year and I'll stick by it.

...you're assuming they'll stand pat if they don't sign Tanaka...they're not very far from 189 already.

59, sounds like they're around 163 mill now and with tanaka for say 20 or so the expenses they have left will put them over the 189 by a little. If they don't get tanaka don't see them spending the big bucks for the starters that are left and will try to go inhouse first with a pineda and phelps, nona etc and hope banuelos comes quick. without tanaka they can even sign balfour who won't be a fortune and be under the 189. That being said I don't think there is any way they don't get tanaka so my carefully laid out response will be for naught.:lol::lol:

...the number I have seen including unsigned arbies, benefits, and everything else is about $184 Mil. ...but it's really hard to keep up with.

"With the A-Rod savings, the Yankees have roughly $149 million committed in 2014 salary to just 13 signed players.

Figuring in contract raises to arbitration-eligible players such as David Robertson and Brett Gardner, plus the signing of non-arbitration players, plus benefits, the Yanks’ projected 2014 payroll is $184.3 million according to MLB Network."

As I predicted all the way back on 1/13 that yankees will not be outbid. LOL. And Cashman once again does what he does best. Write a bigger check than the competition. That being said not crazy about the option after 4 years but if he opts out it will mean he's been pretty good and we'll just resign for another 5 or 6 years. Whats not being said also is the huge marketing plus this will be for the yanks with Kuroda, Ichiro and now Tanaka here. Japan loves their baseball and mlb and every set will be tuned into the yankees. Will probably pay for that contract many times over. And lastly now that their over the 189 they will probably crush it with Balfour, drew and depending how stiff that tex wrist is maybe morales. This is why I love being a yankee fan. Eat it the rest of you mlb whiners. The Yanks are back.
