this probably isnt the right night to start this thread considering he had a good first half....BUT.....why in the hell is mo williams in until 3 or 4 minutes left in the 4th quarter???? he had his best half of his blazer career in the first half tonight against OKC but that guy takes more bad shots earlier in the clock WITHOUT making a single pass... and is a horrible passer. he cant even make an entry pass plus he gets abused on defense. he also dominates the ball in the second unit, CJ NEEDS MORE TOUCHES. cj in limited touches looks like a very efficient scorer. mo williams minutes need to go down and cj's need to start going up.
I don't think anyone outside CJ's family wants to see his minutes go up more than I, but he hasn't shown "efficient" yet. It's a super-small sample, but the stats say he's an averagely-efficient shooter (45% FG, 36% 3, 51% eFG) who doesn't do much else (3 reb/36, 1.3 ast/36). But he looks like he has a nice handle and a nice stroke.
im not talking stats. im talking the by the eye test. the way he scores you can tell he can get good shots and make a majority. hes got a great stroke and that floater is very tough to stop. he plays within himself unlike mo
Mo williams is what he is, a chucker who is instant offense off the bench. The thing I would like to see more if what you eluded to already and thats more of the starting 5 in the 4th quarter not the weird Mo-starter-starter-starter-starter lineup that just isn't as good as if we had all of our starting lineup in. With 7 or 8 minutes left in the game i'd put the starters in to finish it if its a close one.
CJ needs to make the coach move him up the depth charts and put him ahead of Mo. I don't believe CJ has done enough to warrant more minutes over him.
with 6 or so minutes left when they were about to put batum back in i said "if they take out wes instead of mo im going to turn the tv off." i couldnt believe it...this was a very physical game wes should not be taken out with that much time left in a very close important game. although, i should have listened to myself and turned the tv off because thats when we started playing terrible
Lotta (warranted) hate for Mo Williams turnover issues, but CJ has worse vision....at least for now. I just wish we could see some CJ/Dame backcourt action, even in limited minutes.
Ouch, glad I couldn't watch tonight after all. Was checking my phone and wondered wtf happened the last five minutes.
Mo was out a minute later and Matthews back in. Everyone was ice cold at the end, and too tired to run the offense. Sefalosha on Lillard was a revelation for OKC as he just wore Samian down yo a nub. And Durant was on fire. Can't make a comeback when he's going HAM on you.
Sometimes passing it around doesn't find a good shot, so you need a player to dribble around looking for a shot or pass. Most teams have just one, but we have two, Lillard and Mo. It knocks the opponent's defense off-kilter.
Poster: Mo's pounding the ball into the floor again. Apologist: But he hit a '3' back in the 2nd quarter. Poster: Mo just went 'no-pass-offense' again and pulled up for a brick '3' while Damian was wide open. Apologist: This is not a good time to bring that up. Poster: Mo's shooting over the last 15 games is so poor. Apologist: He shot well in that 5 minutes span tonight. Poster: Mo is getting abused on a nightly basis on the defensive end. Apologist: He's better than Nolan Smith. Poster: Mo's PER for and against is one of the worst on the team while the Blazers are most efficient with Lopez on the court. Why is Mo still in the game? Apologist: He is just good and you need to accept that. Poster: Mo just shot your mother. Apologist: He sent flowers and a nice card...get off his case.
Tend to agree with this. Mo brings some great things that no other player does, along with some repeated colossal mistakes. Stotts needs to either seriously address the mistakes or cut his minutes.
I'm fine with Mo coming in as a spark, but I'm sick and tired of Mo playing with the starters until 4 minutes left in the game. Fuck. That. There is no reason why the starting unit shouldn't be on the floor with 7 or 8 minutes left in the game. Terry needs to adjust his rotation.
