    Yes. I paid for my passport application that way a few years back.

    make sure you get the Passport card too. Good for land/sea crossings (Canada/Mexico/cruises)

    Its not that expensive. Also, when I travel I keep that as a secondary ID just in case I lose my passport and need to go to the embassy. I have my passport scanned online as well but this makes things a little quicker and easier. Its RFID chipped though so if you're not into that you should.

    Maybe get global entry. I haven't done it but heard its fucking great so you get to go in shorter lines for trusted traveller. You can also use these automated machines at customs which is a bit quicker too.

    $30 bucks if you previously held a passport. $55 if you're a first-time applicant.

    But I agree with El-P, it's worth it and helpful. Even when I'm in Europe and out for the day putting around, I carry that instead of my actual passport.
