I loathe Schilling as much as the next guy, but i really hope he gets well... I just find the timing AWFULLY SUSPICOUS... exactly 5 years from retirement and when you become HOFFMAN eligible.... right? I know... Cynical right?
No, cyanical is saying that even if its his prostrate and he requires reconstruction and a colostomy....even without one, he'll still be an asshole. I hope he beats it, whatever form of C he has. I'm sure we'll learn more about his fight over time. But he's affiliated and revered by the city that is the world leader in biotech. He will be in exceptional hands. My dad has advanced stage lung cancer and my conversation with his oncologist is a strategy to beat it, not the death sentence it used to be.
...was just gonna post the story about Schill when I saw this thread...he's always been a drama queen, but I hope he gets well.
When my father was diagnosed with lung cancer back in '89 he was gone three months later not a pretty sight so I hope Schilling does recover. Wouldn't wish that disease on anyone.
...^^^same here...I lost my Dad in '97 to cancer and like you said, it isn't pretty and I would not wish that on anyone. For the longest time after he died, whenever I'd think about him and my mind's eye would play back memories of him, they were movies of him wasting away those last few months...took a couple of years for my mind to reprogram and instead play "the good movies".
Tomo therapy and cyberknife are changing radiation treatment. And targeted chemo agents such as kinase inhibitors or antibody therapeutic proteins are now taking the fight to the big C. Science still has a long way to go, but I have seen proprietary technology for determining which drug/drug combination will kill your cancer, and have the answer in under a week. Another new technique called liquid biopsy could make cancer detection a blood test. Pop is in for a battle, thanks for the kind words.
Lost my mom to cancer over 50 years ago, I wouldn't wish it on anyone. So I hope schill has a full recovery.
