Re: Snow to hit the Portland area at around noon. It's going to be one hell of a stor Snow is beautiful in Portland, but I can't think of many worse places for it. The country's snow belt is pretty flat. Here in the Rockies, the snow is so dry it isn't all that slippery. However, in the PNW you have the combination of hills, windy roads not built for snow, the fact it usually starts as rain so you get a coating of ice followed by wet, heavy snow and, finally, drivers who don't know what the hell they're doing.
Re: Snow to hit the Portland area at around noon. It's going to be one hell of a stor Tomorrow morning could be interesting. I may just keep the kids out of school.
Re: Snow to hit the Portland area at around noon. It's going to be one hell of a stor You may not need to. It's not warming up any time soon - I could see school being canceled tomorrow.
Re: Snow to hit the Portland area at around noon. It's going to be one hell of a stor Apparently, Georgia is one place that is less-equipped for snow than us.
Re: Snow to hit the Portland area at around noon. It's going to be one hell of a stor Tualatin just announced that kids are being released at 1pm, and all evening activities are canceled. Which is a bummer, because my daughter's 5th-grade program is tonight, and she has a duet she's singing.
Snow is really picking up in Tualatin, but it's so windy it's blowing sideways and not accumulating yet.
Is there any snow at Lake of the Woods? I want to get to the cabin and do some snowmobiling soon. Webcams don't show snow on the roads with a bit on the side of the road, but how about the mountains?
If it's snowing in the towns you can bet there is snow in the mountains. Don't know about Lake of the Woods though.
Fuck. I can drive in this shit no problem, but I'm terrified of everybody else on the road. My PT Cruiser won't do much to help an idiot truck driver stop before he pushes me into the river...
Re: Snow to hit the Portland area at around noon. It's going to be one hell of a stor That sucks. One of the joys of parenting is those proud moments (for those of you against kids).
Lol. I never would picture you in a PT Cruiser. To each his own - not knocking you. I just didn't picture you in that car.
Just got home. Took about an hour. All kinds of traffic on Farmington and then had had trouble getting up the hill. Live over on Cooper Mountain at about 1000 ft elevation. Roads to my home are all white. And it's not that fluffy white snow that is easy to drive but rather like about half inch or more of compact snow/ice. Didn't bother stopping at stop signs, just started up the hill and kept the momentum going up the hill. One turn my car slid 90 degrees but pulled it back and kept the momentum going. I actually enjoy driving in the stuff and sliding around . . . of course it's all fun until you hit something or get stuck.
