Just a disgrace of a loss on home ice. They now need to beat the Pens in their building which I doubt happens.
What can you do. Can't get too worked up over one loss, you are not going to win every game, but that was VERY frustrating. To me that was the worst game we have played in a while. We didn't draw one penalty all game. We were way too fancy tonight trying to make the pretty play instead of the smart shot. Nothing about our game was hard tonight. Also shows why Cally is not worth what he thinks he is. He flat out missed the net on 4 or 5 excellent chances. Not good saves, just missed nets by Cally. On his break chance just shoot, what is with the fancy sh*t. Again not going to get worked up by one L, but that was a bad frustrating L that a team battling for a playoff spot and playoff position should not lose at home. That simple really. And it is compounded by the fact we play at Pitt tomorrow night, so very good shot all this good feeling we have had recently goes away and we head into the break with 2 straight L's, and maybe clinging to a wildcard playoff spot. Frustrating...
Of course every other team around them gets 2 pts. Gotta get at least a point out of these types of games.
When you have the oilers at home it should be 2 points and a rout never 0 points and a close game. I need more blood pressure medicine.
Who knows, maybe they can come up with a focused effort tomorrow and at least snag a point. That would be nice going into the break.
It's weird, when I was watching the game I just had a really really bad feeling come over me that the Oilers were going to score. Same shift boom they scored to win. Very weird. Normally that doesn't happen, but I felt it coming, just something about this game. With about 5 minutes left I was just hoping for OT and a point, maybe they were also. Who knows. If they win tomorrow night tonight is forgotten. Let's see if they can steal these two points back at Pitt. You have to figure they will be ready after this terrible performance tonight, worst game since that Isles L. Plus beating a really good team would be nice as well and make us feel better about the team big picture. Does also stink every other game of interest went against us tonight as 71 said, CBJ game pending later. Rough night. You have those over the course of a long season though.
Hopefully penguins watched ranger effort tonight. If they did maybe they get overconfident and give half their team the night off to make it even.
At least the CLB game was a clean win. And i was feeling the same thing Chuck, especially when Richards slipped. It's inevitable they have these types of losses 4-5 times a year..it's ingrained in the franchise.
Shows how average this team is. Another brutal loss on home ice against crap team. They are not a good hockey club. Most of the forwards take too many nights off. There is an issue with number one line. Nash is back to being lazy again. Stepan is invisible. Kreider is struggling a bit but that would be expected as it is his first full season.
They always screw around against teams with nothing to lose when they need points. Hope it dosent bite them in April.
Exactly ... The Rangers are a decent to good team, and they will have games like this. This isn't the first time we've seen them play really well one night, only to take their foot off the pedal the next. To be honest, this game was expected. Now we will probably witness a great game on the road in Pittsburgh where they will probably steal a point.
You post this same exact thing after every single loss. 4 wins in a row including a dominating performance against one of the west's best teams. but one bad loss? Not a good hockey club. Yawwwwwn
so you think they are a good hockey team all of sudden? two wins against crappy isles, one win against crappy devils team and win against a very good team who was on back to back nights. Too many bad losses on home ice against crappy teams equal average hockey team.
Not much physical play translates into not many penalties called, the glaring miss by the refs was the elbow to Zuccarello's face, guess he should have laid on the ice feigning injury to get the whistle. Callahan made a quick transition from hero to goat missing the net at least 3 times point blank kind of like the $4.25 mil player he is. Think the Rangers were looking past this game to tomorrow and that's usually what happens. A road game in the Garden was one of the few remaining highlights for Edmonton this season and they played like it.
His name is Ben Scrivens and he came from the LA organization that produced other golatenders such as Quick and Martin Short! The front 5 played to to their goalie's talent and confidence. Remember teams are only good as their goalies and we all are going to see much more of Scrivens and the Oilers. HAHAhahaHHAHhahahhhhhhaaaaaa!
Scrivens made a few good saves off CK & Zucc, other than that the Rangers were the team that couldn't shoot straight last night, they had have double digit scoring opportunities ending without a shot on goal or wasted by players trying to make a highlight pass instead of firing the puck at the net.
all of a sudden? no, but this team was always better than the garbage they were playing like the first couple of months. It's a good team that needs improvements to be a legit SC threat, but it is a good team. Since Dec 15th this team has gone 15-6-2.
They've played a lot better for the last two months, however they need to beat the bad teams on home ice consistently. They had a chance to solidify their playoffs position last night but they choked. Every team below them got the points last night.
It's hopeless 31. As of the start of last night's game, the Rangers have the second best record in the ENTIRE EASTERN CONFERENCE since the end of their 9 game road trip to start the season. Yet somehow they are not a "good team" I really don't get it. Nobody here is saying cup favorite. Nobody is saying they are elite, unbeatable, or even great. But I dont know how you can say they are not a good team. Mind blowing. Big game tonight and I fully expect a bounce back effort.
