Many of my friends my age or older say that the british invasion killed music. I disagree. Though I loved & still love the oldies of groups like the Earls, Capris, Duprees, Platters, Crests, Dion & the belmonts, Skyliners, four seasons, Beach boys, Gary Puckett & many others. I also think the British invasion brought us many good sounds also. Aside from the Beatles being #1 you can't ignore the Stones, Animals, Herman Hermits, Searchers, Dave Clark five & others. Personally I think music IMO pretty much died after the 80s.

I know you said others, but how could you leave out Led Zeppelin? The Police? Sting? Genesis? Phil Collins? Peter Gabriel? Black Sabbath? Ozzy Osbourne? Pink Floyd? The Who? Elton John? Queen? David Bowie? The Clash?

To a lesser extent Coldplay? Radiohead? Sex Pistols? Duran Duran?

And then while not British, you have U2...

So definitely some great music out of that region...

Timing is a very important element in music. The so called originators of Rock & Roll who set the tone as standouts by 1959 stood at Elvis on active duty, Buddy Holly Dead, Jerry Lee Lewis disgraced, Little Richard gone to the ministry, and Chuck Berry in jail. The Everly Brothers changed labels and were denied much of their earlier material that got them to the top. The Everly Brothers and Holly were huge influences on the Beatles style ditto Carl Perkins who was more an influence on the English guitar players than Berry. After a few years of the Philadelphia Talent pool like Avalon and Fabian the time was ripe when the Beatles Showed up.

Don't have normal TV service, so I can't watch.... CBS doesn't have deals with Netflix or Hulu Plus, so I won't be able to watch...

...all of that is true, but all of those people you listed also had influences...no one can take credit for it all, but nothing compares to the impact the Beatles made.

    No, saving money...

Comcast is too expensive, DirecTV is too expensive... we have something called Roku... it streams through the internet... we have internet anyway, so why not do this.... Netflix is $7.99/mo, Hulu Plus is $7.99/mo, Amazon Prime is $79/year (~$6.58/mo) and that's it... so we pay $22.56/mo for what we watch... if I were to sign up for MLBTV, that would be $109/year, but that would be it... Unfortunately, no NFL or NCAA Football sports, NHL has some deal with Roku, but as much as I love the Devils, I'd only pay for one sport if even that one, and it would be the Yankees...

    so it is significantly cheaper...

I don't get to see CBS shows... so I miss out on NCIS which I loved, but aside from that, I really am not missing anything... I can go online for neitws... nothing else worth watch... so I miss sports, and specials, but aside from that, who gives a rats ass...

SIGNIFICANTLY less commercials (none on Netflix and Amazon Prime), limited on Hulu Plus....

...I quit paying for MLBTV last year...save the link below. Nothing shows on it right now because, well, there are no games being played. But last year I'd say I was able to watch about 80% of the Yanx games for free and most of them were from an actual MLBTV stream. As you can see, from the menu up top, there are other sports you can watch...play with it and see what you think.

fwiw, I've also been playing with the idea uf using roku or chromecast or appletv instead of directv, but can't decide which way to go because they all have their pros and cons.
