And to think, our DSLRs today totally decimate the quality of the CCDs on the Hubble (about 2.5 megapixels). Imagine a 24 MP CCD on the Hubble!

I remember overhearing a guy asking his religious friend why the bible, if it's the word of god, doesn't have much clearer references to the other planets in the solar system (creating the heavens and the earth" just doesn't cut it).

Kind reminds me of the opening sequence of the original Star Trek show.

This is really old news. They took the deep space image in 1996.

There's a copy of it on the wall at the air and space museum at Balboa Park in San Diego.

From wikipedia: "The Hubble Ultra-Deep Field (HUDF) is an image of a small region of space in the constellation Fornax, composited from Hubble Space Telescope data accumulated over a period from September 24, 2003, through to January 16, 2004. "

Yes, it's old, and the video's pretty old, but shut up and let people enjoy it, please.

Watch the video in the first post. They say 1996 in the first sentence or two.

What may be different about this is the 3D.

Watch the video a bit longer and you'll know that it wasn't about Deep Field, but Ultra Deep Field which came later.
