Why not keep them, add Noel and a top pick and see what they look like in 2 years?

Ariza off of the bench isn't a bad idea. I just don't see why the Bullets would do it when they're going to be a lock for a solid 3-6 seed in the East, which is a crapshoot for first round series.

Seems like they have a lot of small forwards. I'd like to add him. He can shoot, defend, and he's a big physical guy.

I'd do Mo, Wright, and Leonard for Ariza/Maynor.

    Dame/Maynor
    Wes/CJ
    Nic/Ariza
    LA/Robinson
    Rolo/Freeland

That's a pretty good lineup. It would be nice to get someone like Seraphin, but I don't see why they'd give him up.

I wonder if Ariza would even want to be a backup. He is a starter in this league.

Dude wants to win. He's on a team that's barely over .500 and I think there's minutes to be had here. We've been struggling to find a steady rotation for months. If our 9 man rotation was Dame, Wes, Nic, LA, Rolo, Ariza, CJ, Freeland, and Maynor, that's pretty damn solid.

If we rotated only Batum, Mathews and Ariza through the SF/SG spots, they could each get 30 plus minutes. Then the problem would be what to do with McCollum. What if he was only in there when Batum is also in. so there would be some PG skills? Also could be small lineups where Ariza was basically a 4.

Because Nic and CJ can both handle the ball, you don't necessarily have to have a backup point guard. You just rotate Nic/CJ/Dame in the backcourt.

I wouldn't do it if I am them; I think Ariza is very valuable to them. But they are very weak at backup PG and backup SG. They might think by acquiring Mo that they would improve two positions enough that the dropoff from Ariza to Webster (who has become a pretty darn good player) and Wright wouldn't hurt much. They also have Otto Porter. They might figure if Mo would just revert upwards to his career scoring averages, that they would be better off. And apparently they don't intend to resign Ariza so they would also get something back in Leonard.

Yeah. I'd also see if they'd do Seraphin, but if it not, I'm fine with Maynor. I thought he played okay last season with Dame.

Yes, I'm tending to agree. There might be an adjustment period where it hurt us some; but I think by the playoffs we would be a lot better team.

The bench needs to improve, that's for sure. I'm totally happy with our starters. We need some consistency from our second unit, and I don't see it happening with Mo, Dorell, or even Robinson.

That's quite a good trade idea, adds a bit of physicality.
As much as I love Freeland's work ethic, I'd alsolike to see a move for a bigger player to come of the bench - someone like a Timofey Mozgov.

I haven't watched much of Areiza ever? Obviously he shoots better than he did when he was in laker-land.
But...Is he an improvement over Mo? Can he be the #1 option on the 2nd unit? Or #2?
He plays with Wall, Beal, gortat, nene now right? Those are pretty offensively gifted players in what they do well.
So another question is... Is he a product of teams treating him as the #5 option?
His defense is an improvement over anything the blazers have on the 2nd unit now but... what about offensive?

personally. I think the trade improves the defense of the team, but hurts the overall offense.

I was on the Mozgov band wagon this summer and got shot down. He is still inconsistent, but he certainly does not suck like some suggested.

Regardless of adding another 7+ footer to the team, I agree there too, but I would hate to give up Joel. He has proven to be versatile. As a matter of fact I see no reason to trade for a PF when you can give him some minutes there. LMA is going to play 36 minutes a game. You are not going to get a really good back up pF who will be happy playing 14 minutes. I am happy with TRob and Joel and even Claver.

Nate's proposal of Mo-Wright swap for Ariza-Maynor would be great but I do not see Washington being interested. I would give CJ 20 minutes a game and give Wes more minutes at the 3 if we are concerned with the sF spot. I would also like to give Claver a shot at SF. Not a scorer, but he rebounds well from that spot.

As for PG-Earl is a good as Maynor. The bench has talent, they just need to find the right combination and stick to it. The turnover are their biggest problem and part of that is too many different lineups.

I’ve been hearing since the fall that Kenneth Faried is available at the right price, and sources across the league maintain that remains true as we approach the deadline. (Denver has consistently denied this.) They should be ready to give away JaVale McGee if they find a taker, and the Nuggets have a lot of midsize salaries, including Prof. Miller’s, that are handy in trades
