So you like boxing but hate hockey??? That makes NO sense... And where are the numbers about fights being the only thing hockey fans like???? Please.... show me... I've never once denied there were fights in hockey, but your comments are absurd!
Actually Steve I'm not a fan of either one. Basically I'm just busting your chops. Very talented skaters but never cared for the sport. Boxing I use to follow 30-40 years ago but much like hockey today the sport is just not what it once was. And that stat I gave is on the level, I forget where but I honestly did read it somewhere a couple of years back. BTW: What is the rules today for hockey after the refs stand around & watch two guys beat the piss out of each other? A five minute penalty? a slap on the wrist or perhaps a dinner date. Or is it FINALLY treated the way real sports are followed with heavy fines & or suspensions? Just curious.
depending on the fight and how many are involved, it could be 5 minute major for fighting, 5 minute for instigating, game misconduct, and depending on the severity, fines/suspensions, but most fights don't get anywhere near that... most are just 5-10 minutes in a box... Hockey has always had fights, always will. Betman was trying to minimize them, but it wasn't working the way he wanted...
So in other words its the only sports where beating the crap out of someone & doing things that have absolutely nothing to do with the sport itself is okay. And where the message to the few kids that actually watch the sport that violence in sports is accepted. Its no surprise to me that hockey rating have gone down as much as they have over the last 10 years or so. But to each there own.
But MMA (and to a lesser extent, boxing) is ok??? that is even more brutal, and all it is is violence, no skill.... same with WWE... violence... but kids love that stuff... Hockey is a hard game to follow... and not easy to explain...
