When I think of the list of people that have made me laugh the most, he is easily top five if not top three. His work on SCTV was amazing. For those who don't know who he is, if you've ever laughed at a Bill Murray line, chances are it was written by Harold Ramis.
Hopefully, he's not the last to know: A Tip of The Cap to a Real American.
This really bums me out. I loved Groundhog Day. I loved Ghost Busters. I loved Stripes. This really really sucks.
SC Chicago but he worked with the SC Toronto people a lot especially on SCTV. Other than John Candy I think the rest of the cast is still alive and working.
I thought that was George Lucas... Edit: Yeah, Ramis had nothing to do with that movie. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0069704/
I used to watch SCTV when it was on the air. I also used to go to Second City Theater in Chicago to watch them do live comedy. I saw Chevy Chase, Gilda Radner, Bill Murray and his brother, Akroyd, Belushi, and John Candy, etc. This was before there was a SNL. Saw this on SCTV. Still love it. I remember starting the movie with friends and playing the Strange Brew drinking game which was drinking every time they said, "take off" but for some reason I don't remember ever seeing the end of the movie.

If Harold Ramis was attached to a project, I knew it would make me laugh. I can't say that about many other comedic filmmakers.
