Thanks Matt23. We actually honeymooned in Williamsburg, VA, actually, but close (just over 7 years 4 months ago). We currently have 2 boys (just turned 6 and almost 4) and a 3rd on the way. Would've been one in between the 2 and the one on the way, but there was a miscarriage.

I'm sorry to hear you have had a rough stretch these past few years...

I lost my maternal grandfather about 4 months ago, and both of my paternal grandparents in the last 5 years or so... my mother also passed away almost 5 years ago, but sounds like you've had it rougher... glad you are surviving though... glad to have you around!

Yeah Steve I found Rob (Matt23) over on the Reddit board. Already he loves the format & how easy it is to get around the site. He especially likes that any new posts appear in his e-mail. I wish there was a way to get a COUPLE of the other guys over here to TRY things out. you know, no harm no foul. But I don't want to cause problems over there by recruiting. Who knows, maybe once the season starts the'll be curious enough to stop by to check it out themselves.

...Matt, I don't play as much as I used to, mainly because I'm always wrapped up working on other people's clubs...but that's a good thing...I'm self-employed and business is good.

...as far as looking forward to my posts, you may want to rethink that because it has been reported that I am a board cancer, and get people banned, and I spend 10-12 hours a day posting, I have no merit, I edit posts to cover my tracks, among other among other flaws...but other than that, I'm a good egg. :biglaugh:

Alot seems to of happened in a few years, for everyone. I'm doing alright, other than all my hair turned grey. I lost 72 lbs. and 10 waist sizes since I last posted. I needed to lose at least 50 lbs & 6 waist sizes tho'. Went from 254 lbs., with a 44 inch bloated waist, to 172 lbs and a 34 inch waist. I'm wearing my 30 year old son's pants he wore in High School. Same size I was as a Senior. Thankfully he quickly outgrew those pants, & they were stored. Otherwise, I'd have to buy a new wardrobe, LOL. I feel better now the ton of stress has let up, and have been going to the gym, eating right again, hopefully will put back on some muscle.

It's good to have an appetite again. 174 is to light for being 6'1" tall. Having a legit past time other than watching the Yankees, like this board, gives me re-knewed interests; something to look forward to daily, talking with friends from the past. A true thrill for me. A road to recovery indeed.

Take good care of each other Hammer, I look forward to your posts, and watching you, your family grow, as well as hopefully hearing the many stories your kids will give you. Which are priceless...!!!

You too have had a rough road in the past years since I was last on a Yankees board.

I'm sorry to hear of the losses you've gone through. The one saving grace, is, those who come behind us, namely your blessed kids. My own 3 boys sure changed my life around, for the better too. Sure they turned me salt and pepper haired in my early 30s, & totally grey now. Even tho' my boys are 34, 32 and 30, they never quit effecting ones life as a parent. You know all this, I'm preaching to the choir.

One thing tho' I learned quickly as a parent- "my boys taught me more about life, sacrifice, patience, unconditional love, and how to be a Father and how not to be a Father. (These things were already instilled in me, the kids just brought them out quickly). I always felt kids are angels entrusted to us, to raise, protect, care for, and learn from. It's of course any parents responsibility to teach our kids many things in life. Overall, I'd say my sons taught me more about life, than perhaps I had to teach them. (That is life's lessons moreso). I mean Father's teach their sons values, ethics, how to throw a baseball and hit one, as well as many many additional things. My Sons taught me how sacred life itself is, how innocent small children are, until their siblings, friends, and society tarnishes their wings. Once this happens our life as Dad's seems to go into overdrive. It's all good though. I know you of all know that, your a good father, I can tell just by what I have been fortunate to be a recepient of your friendship. I'm looking forward to the future, just when I thought all seemed lost in despair. New life is found here, and I thank you all, for breathing new life back into this old man! Wait, I didn't say that.

"if we never knew the hour, day or year we were born, and no one else did, then how old would we be"?

Hey 40 lbs is nothing to balk at....great going Rick. What brought on the loss of weight? I hope not stress. Was it your last surgery, seems a intensive surgery always brings on a loss of 20 lbs the first month thereafter, and more to follow. How are you feeling now? Still sore? Damn back problems and surgeries are by far the worst of any medical conditions to go through! I know you know, but so few others realize a back surgery is way beyond anyones wildest imaginations; and NO ONE comprehends this unless they too have had a major spinal rebuild overhaul.

All I'm missing is a grease cirque fitting. Why can't they invent this, so we can grease our bones like car ball joints? Squeak squeak. I need to drink some oil...LMAO...!!!

    59-

You have always been good for insight beyond the norm. It's good to hear your still swinging the clubs, and have your own business is a great thing, being your own boss is the ultimate job.

What you a Cancer, who says so? I've got a deep sea fishing trip planned, maybe I can invite those who have berated you. After all, by deep sea, I mean we won't be standing on a boat on the deep sea, we will be diving down, where some won't return, not when I tie them to a sunken ton of scrap metal, where: "they can sleep and eat with the fishes".... (I had to throw that old line out, one I have never forgotten, from, wasn't it 'Goodfellas')? A line I recall from an old ESPN Post!

What was the song from 48 Hours, " The Gang is Back In Town", seems appropriate. WOW!

    ...lol...that's an idea.

...where's your fishing trip?...the Gulf Coast and the Keys have some great deep sea fishing deals. As a kid I used to take the ferry from Ft George Island to Mayport (10 cents) and would wait at the docks for the rich Yankees to return from their fishing trip and would clean/filet their catch for a fee or a portion of their catch because they wanted the fish but didn't want to do the scaling and cleaning.
...I saw some monster grouper, cobia, snapper, tarpon, mahi, etc back then. All the boat captains knew me and if they were short on help they'd have me as a fill in for their crew...I had a blast on those boats.

I could definitely use to loose some weight... I don't know when to fit in exercise though... work a very busy 10 day normally with only a couple of minutes at a time normally to spare, not large chunks of time in which I could use the gym at work... I drive an hour each way (in good weather) to/from work, and when I get home, my kids need my attention... plus I go to bed about an hour after they do as I normally need to be up in the 4:00 hour... plus my wife is extremely ill with this pregnancy (she has Hyperemesis gravidarum which is basically insanely extreme morning sickness that never goes away) so I need to do the cooking, cleaning, laundry, etc. when I am awake... I know.... excuses excuses... It's just hard to see a path forward right now...

...hammer, just cut back on you carbs. And you can get your workout in first thing in the morning when you have the most energy,,,you'd be surprised what you can do with a couple of 20 pound dumb bells.

The only thing... I get up between 4:00 and 4:30 to ensure I get to work in time (start at 6:30). I then leave at the absolute earliest at 3pm (normally later) and don't often have time for a lunch break... Then, getting home a little over an hour later, I'm with the kids for the rest of the day and then only an hour - hour and a half with my wife before I pass out... I can't get up any earlier without going to bed earlier and then I spend almost no time with my wife alone... I can't fathom where I'd squeeze the time in...

Steve I'm surprised you're not losing weight just from chasing those little ones around.
