He just can't make it past 5th grade huh?

Although not sure what Sly going to public school has to do with my post . . . but always good to hear another fellow S2 poster underachieving.

No, he can't make it past the chain-link fence around the playground. Not without getting arrested, anyway...

Believe me, if that was the case, I'd be driving a LOT nicer car.

It's just culmination of all the recent stories I've seen about this kind of bullshit. It's so disheartening to read this kind of thing.

Charter schools are public schools. You're thinking of private schools, such as Jesuit.

Charter school aka NOT PUBLIC SCHOOL!
    Not even true! http://www.snopes.com/politics/christmas/suspended.asp

AKA BULLSHIT BULLSHIT BULLSHIT. It's not the public schools doing this, it's the charter schools whom you want to turn towards!

It really is an easy solution, if you don't like the way a charter school conducts themselves . . . don't send your kid to that charter school.

I agree with eastoff in that if you want to complain about the way schools disciplining their children, the biggest offenders would be charter and private schools.

Public schools are too afraid of being sued to really do what they think is best for the child and the school, IMO.

Why the fuck are you people focusing entirely on the public school part of the rant? Seriously? Do you want me to go back and edit it to say "schools?"

This is why this country is so fucked up. You are ignoring the problem and focusing on the politics. Get the fuck over it.

So would it then be edited to say you're contemplating an alternative to schools in general for your future kids?

Your exact solution was to pull your hypothetical kids out of public school and send them to a charter. You don't see the irony in your statement? Your false blame and incorrect solution?

Where did I say that I would send my kids to charter schools? Point me where I have ever said that I would send my kids to charter schools?

    Nice one bro.

In your OP you said: I do not have kids yet, but I'm honestly contemplating an alternative to public schools because I'm afraid of what they're teaching our kids.

I don't understand why you guys are rushing to the defense of schools here... should I have said "schools" and not just "public schools?" Yes, but my point is that schools in general are enforcing these ridiculous social rules on our children. I don't understand how this is conservative or liberal, and yet most of the liberal posters are becoming hostile here.

Are you guys really that protective of our public school system?

Well geez Nate, you tell us what you meant. Don't mean to be reading too much into your statement but when you say alternative to public schools, what are you talking about? Private schools and charters come to my mind. But maybe you are talking some alternative many of us don't know about (school abroad?)
