Realistic Expectations......

Just curious how some of you view your Blazers? Reading all of the nut job posts here on S2 cracks me up sometimes.

Back in late October if I had told you that our Blazers on April 1st would have only 3 less wins the the dynasty known as the Miami Heat, what would you have said?

My bet is everyone of you would be doing back flips from happiness.

The things some of you post about how horrible we are playing or how much we suck......as if we had 8 wins, not 48!

I couldn't be more proud of these guys. Ripcity!!

 

Or they pretty much did exactly what I said they would. I predicted 5th seed. I think I even predicted low 50's for wins. What now?

 

I would have been a doubter. These guys have well surpassed my "realistic" expectations. I thought they had a decent chance at playoffs at the beginning of the season with a likely first round exit. Now, I'm hoping to get to the second round. Anything more than that is total bonus.

The thing is, when they are playing with the poise and swagger they have the past couple of games, I start getting visions of grandeur and think finals or even championship. Sometimes it is hard not go to all Mags on these guys.

I predicted 47 wins a low playoff seed. Looks like we'll be pretty close to that.

What I want so badly is a playoff series win. 13 years has been a huge drought-- pretty much since I began to ardently follow the team (watched/listened to every game in these 13 years), I deserve some sort of reward.

 

So bad! It's been hard going through the dog days and seeing the team be lackadaisical... now it seems they are back on track. God damnit, they better win tonight.

 

I have been pretty consistent in that I have been very pleased with how we have done and the strides we have made with virtually no trade bait.

 

I said 55 wins in the summer after learning we got Lopez and t rob. I'm still sticking to that.

 

Thank God! I was getting worried. With Sly in our corner the league doesnt stand a chance.

They've exceeded my expectation. I hated going through that slump recently, but it looks like we're over that. HCP, you shouldn't be surprised at the reactions. Portlanders are more emotionally invested in their NBA team than other cities.

 

Yep. It's either that or the... soccer team.

Before the season, what was the Vegas o/u for POR? If I remember correctly, it was something < 40. Lotsa gambling Blazer fans shoulda made some serious $$

 

Wow, if I would have known that, I would have put some money on that. That's free money if that's the number they gave. Under 40? I think even the most pessimistic fan had them at 44-46.

 

I remember they had us at 13th in the west but can't remember the wins exactly

I believe, I thought we'd be a 6 seed with about 45 wins.

 

This was my prediction as well. 6-8 seed, 45-48 wins. Even with their recent frustrations, I'm still very pleased with how this season is going so far.

The first 40 games they wildly exceeded my expectations. Since then, they have been the 38-40 win team I predicted.

I don't know why things went off the rails...and I am almost past the point of caring. For someone who has been a fan since the team was born, that is a sad place to be.
