How can he look his teammates in the eye? He is a soft piece of dog crap. Just like he stood 6 inches from Carcillo after he pounded Gaborik a few yrs ago and did nothing, he stands by watching another top player suffer a crushing, dirty hit.
As soft as they come !

Seems like since he got dropped by Ladd a couple seasons ago he stopped picking his spots... He gave Burrows a nice headshot but dropping the gloves would have been a better response.

This team is as soft as they come. Guys going down is part of the game...but when dirty players just freely take runs as your best players, it's only a matter of time before they get hurt and others play always "lookin over their shoulder". It could happen now or in the playoffs. It's no secret if you have no one respond it will keep happening.

I don't blame Girardi. Last thing we need is him hurt as well. I do blame AV though for not sending out Carcillo, Dorsett and Boyle right after that though.

I disagree. You jump the guy responsible immediately. What good it responding later ? Look at Toews and the Blackhawks. Their season is basically done now with him suffering a similar shoulder injury on a questionable hit by that dirtbag Orpik. Even if it was borderline, you have to stick up for your top guys immediately...not when they can match up by sending out their big guy. Hawks did nothing...like they didn't even care. Girardi had a chance to pummel the guy. Guys like him are just playin' for a paycheck. We have no one who feels the need to step up for a teammate. We haven't for 2 years now. I guess this is what results in paying these guys the sums they get.

He was tossed from the game so I don't blame the Rangers for not looking to end the game with a brawl. There's nothing to be gained there at that point. You remember it and make the culprit answer for it next season.

At that point all you're going to get is a pile up in the corner.

totally agree, also, do you really want to have both of your top defensemen out of the game one with injury and the other in the penalty box serving a 5 minute penalty?

that is what fourth liners are for.
That is why I am against Dylan Mc being looked upon as the guy to stop this kind of shit.
We all know what happens when the Rangers have to play with 5 dmen for long periods of time

You're playing for this season ! Every team knows the Rangers are soft and dont think twice before hammering them with a slash or crosscheck. If McDonough is damaged from this point on, what remote chances they had for a playoff run are gone. Then everyone can say they could have done better if so and so was healthy !!
Cmon, that scumbag simmonds almost broke McDonoughs hand last week when he slashed him late in game 2x (once on his bare hand). The lack of toughness and having guys to do that job is another wonderful job done by the old fuq Sather who just doesn't give a shit.

Then these teams should be beating the Rangers since they're so soft.

Al, 44 seconds left with a 2 goal lead. Who cares about 5 minute penalties at that point. Can you explain your dylan mac comment. My feeling if he is there these guys might think twice before taking that run and getting their heads broken. Girardi's failure to come to top teammates aid after being assaulted AGAIN is a reason I don't see him as captain material. And didn't hear your boy crybaby torts response on one of his goons making a hit like that with less than a minute left and game over. He is a joke as a coach now and will be long gone after this season is over. And dickhead shanahan better suspend this goons ass for multiple games after that hatchet job on one of the top 5 defenseman in hockey.

Simple. .do I want a top 6 man out there fighting every battle and be in the penalty box for lengths of time? Now your down to 5 men for at least 5 minutes possibly more if he hoes for a second round with some 4 line winger. A team isnt going to miss some 4 line grinder but will miss a dman. Especially if you start considering him top 4.

Al, to the contrary after the early couple of obligatory fights I think it will be more like when chara is on ice. Though he can fight not many players challenge him and rarely do you see bruin players run in games. I think Mac will have that kind of effect

Bruins rely on others to drop the gloves not chara...plus they already have size to defend themselves

Chara is their number 1 dman and rarely fights. He only has 2 majors this year. I think Lucic is more of the deterrent in BOS games because he will go every game if he has to. Mac might be able to do that for us, he won't be relied on as a top 4 dman for at least a few years if ever.

Yeah losing a dman might be worse than losing a 4th line winger, but this team has rotated 5 dmen on numerous occasions the past few seasons, dont see why losing Big Mac for 5 minutes would be a bad thing if he's making somebody pay for a cheap shot.

but if Mac is really making somebody pay for a cheap shot he's more likely to be gone for 10mins or the remainder of the game.
