Bulls, Cavs, Bobcats, Grizzlies Expected To Pursue.....Blazers???

Pau Gasol won two championships with the Los Angeles Lakers in 2009 and 2010 and knows what he will look for when making his free agency decision in July.

"I want to be in a team that is going to be built to win a championship," Gasol said. "That's my top priority. Money won't be the main priority. Length and money are factors, but we'll see. Until I know all the options, I won't be able to measure them. But we're getting close to the end of my career. I want to be in a good situation. It's an important decision to make."

The Chicago Bulls, Cleveland Cavaliers, Charlotte Bobcats and Memphis Grizzlies are expected to be potential options for Gasol, according to a poll of NBA executives.

"There are a couple thoughts out there on Pau," said an Eastern Conference executive. "Some people say he is worn out, that he is too far past his prime to really help a contender. There are others that think that LA, that environment the past two season, that style of play has destroyed him and if he goes somewhere else, plays with a different coach, he might be rejuvenated. I could see someone who thinks the latter paying him $10 million a year."

I know what people are going to say..Where do the Blazers get the money but if Gasol really will want to win over money there is always a way.

No, there isn't "always a way" that makes sense.

And where does it say he's considering the Blazers?

It doesn't say that and that's the problem. The Blazers want to win but no way do we want championship players on this team.

He'd still be a damn good backup. Aldridge, Lopez and Pau.

He would be great as the first big off the bench but will he take the role of a bench player and the salary decrease that will come with it? I'd pay him 3y 15m but I think he will get a much better offer then that and I wouldn't go any higher then that with all the health problems he has had the last few years added onto how old he is.

Well the article says that he's into winning more than he is for the money so if that's the case the Blazers might be a good team for him.

Sure he would be a big upgrade at backup center for us, even at his reduced effectiveness. Don't know if he's decided he's ready for that role, and doubt he wants a severe pay cut. He'll probably go play with his brother.

If he'd accept the role and what we can pay, sure.

I would totally take him at the right price this summer, but he probably wants to start.

If he wants to play for a contender, and pass on the CTC, then him signing with us would make us one.

There I go agreeing with BGD. ;)

No way I want this guy on the Blazers, he can't stay on the court and even D'Antoni lost faith in him. Memphis with his brother for nostagia's sake I could see.

It's only been in the NBA news front page for several weeks, numerous articles in the fallout between the coach and Gasol over the style of play and being repeatedly benched. Pau is not an answer for any NBA team, he should retire.
