The refs took over in the 4th quarter of game 7 by manipulating the game. More games + more viewers means more revenue = more pay. Who wanted to see the Blazers play the Pacers?
No. The refs allowed Shaq to do whatever the fuck he wanted all series long. He could literally bull Sabas out of the way, take four or five steps and dunk the ball. I honestly think Shaq had the most ref bias of any player in the history of the game. They allowed a guy who was 300+ pounds to do whatever the hell he wanted, which made him unstoppable.
No, if anything the refs started manipulating in game 5. The Blazers were down 3-1 losing both their home games to the Lakers. Blazers had no business winning the next game, the Lakers had them down. If anything you can think the refs for it gong 7 and givin you a chance to say we were robbed. Shaq aside, the Lakers were the better overall team. Quicker, Faster on their feet and better defensively. The right team won the series.
Remember when shawn kemp fumbled the ball around shaq and then dropped a deuce in his eye? Ive never laughed harder watching basketball. Fat kemp was so bad and slow and fat shaq still couldnt keep up
I know what you're trying to get at, but this is all hindsight. Of course we know the career he had, but you never knew it would come about... because THAT year he was a bench player and nothing more. We can't say that if Robinson got traded he'd all of a sudden become an all star... he's a good bench player (that should get more minutes). Now, before the semantics come out, I am not saying they are comparable, I am merely saying that we can take Joe Schmoe from our bench and say the same thing because they have shown flashes of brilliance. Bottom line, you can not say it's the best team ever if one of those that does have a name -- created their name after that year. There are just too many what if's to make it the 'best nba team of all time'. They are on par for being probably top 10... but not the all time best.
But here's the thing, the talent was there. We can look back and say, "holy shit that team was stacked with talent." The only reason why he didn't blossom on the Blazers was because of lack of playing time. We know that now. We didn't know that at the time, but it doesn't make it any less true.
I don't agree with that. A team is good that year, because that's the year he was on that team. Not when he's in the middle of all those all stars with Indiana. You can't say Minnesota had one of the best teams ever because David Ortiz was on it. Ya know?
I didn't say best. I said talented. One through twelve, that team was possibly the most talented of all time.
Yep. One refers to the talent as they were during that specific season, not their achievements in the following seasons.
Was i the only ten year old kid that thought Shawn Kemp was going to be dunking on fools all the time, instead of snorting coke?
Not that team. The miracle minute was a couple years later. Yknow, Jail Blazers with Ruben Patterson.
Lots of no shows in Game 7, though. Sheed was great but not much of "the talent" helped out. Sabonis and Grant were awful.
I personally think the 1999 team was better: Damon Rider Walt Williams Brian Grant Sabonis 2nd team: Anthony Jim Jackson Stacey Augmon Rasheed Wallace Kelvin Cato We came at teams in waves and dominated most of the regular season. No answer for Spurs' Twin Towers and Sean Elliott's show killed us.
Sheed should have been that guy but he just didn't want to... Lazy ass... Wouldn't work out in the offseason.. Imagine if he had LA's work ethic...
Sorry to all the youngsters on here, but the 1977-78 team before Walton and the rest got injured was the best team in franchise history.
I was less than a year old when that happened, so you must understand I don't have the memories to recall. Also I'm sorry you're so old.
