I think we knew this a couple of years ago... but definitely last year for sure... http://yanksgoyard.com/2014/04/09/mark-teixeiras-days-middle-order-slugger/
He'll still be good for 25+ HRs, so there's value there. Hate that I thought we acquired a .300 hitter with pop.
Hey don't get me wrong, I really want him to do well. We need that 25-30 HRs & 100 RBI guy. Its just that most of his offensive #s have been going down the last 4-5 seasons & I honestly don't see that pattern changing. Especially now with all his recent injuries.
He should get another chance but the Yankees perhaps should be looking, if he hits the DL again for an extended period of time they need to have found.
He's become too brittle.......always hits into the shift....seldom extends innings. Otherwise, he's all we got for 1B.
And for that, a HUGE thank you to Mr. Brian Cashman. The team spends over 400M dollars & doesn't think we need a back up 1st baseman.
We sure did & something tells me we'll be covering it all season long. Or at least until the Yankees can find a decent back up for Teixiera. Or for Johnson if Tex keeps going down.
