I must admit I hate the 12:00 start. Too early. I like 3:00, or night games much more (night games the most by far). Game 2 and game 5 will be 12:00 at MSG. I know this will sound ridiculous, but I think it dulls the home ice edge a little starting that early in the day. Night crowds are much more alive. Two days off between games 1 & 2 AND between games 3 & 4. Games 6 & 7 back to back. Don't love the schedule. The NHL 1st round has now become like the NBA 1st round where TV runs the show 100%. Hate having two games at MSG starting at 12:00. Boston also has two home afternoon NBC games, but at 3, which is much better than 12 IMO. We are the # 3 series behind Detroit/Boston and Chicago/St. Louis.
The games 6-7 back to back is interesting, I think they had that against Washington a few years ago. I guess both teams have to deal with it.
Last year against the Caps. 2nd straight season games 6 & 7 back to back. That doesn't bother me much since both teams have to deal with that. I don't love two days off between games 1 & 2 AND between games 3 & 4. And I HATE two games starting at 12:00 at MSG...really hate that, and think it is BS.
They don't usually seem to do well in 12:00 games for some reason. And I don't like the stretching it out two days either. The last thing they want to do is become like the boring NBA.
That's exactly what this has become sc. Two days off TWICE is ridiculous. ALL about TV. And like I said, maybe I am being crazy and you guys will talk me back down......but I do not like two games at MSG starting at 12. We have played well at home at 12 though, so who knows, but I think a night crowd is much better.
Only series with a back to back. And only us and the Pens/BJ's series have two games that are separated by 3 days (they have all night games though). Okay, I am done complaning...LOL.
Saw a report that Pouliot and the team have mutual interest, which isn't surprising, but maybe a 2yr/4m type deal would work.
Fair point (although I doubt we see him in round 1). And I guess it also gives McDonagh some extra time to get even healthier as the series moves on and be 100% for sure by game 4. Plus we do have 3 dmen who play a lot, so the extra time maybe will have them even more ready later in the series. BTW...Kreider was our leading scorer in the 4 game season series against the Flyers. I see a lot of 2-1 type games that will give us all major heartache. 1st goal big in every game. As for Pouliot, I think he'll be back. 2 years 2 mill per +/- is fair. I am sure MZA will get a 2 or 3 year deal also. Low to mid 2's cap hit wise seems fair.
If they win the first game, they should win the series in 5. If they lose the first one then it will be a long one at least 6 or 7. First game is huge.
$2M for Pouliot would be nice, but may be a bit optimistic. He came to NY coming off a $1.8M salary and after having a career year in pts i think he might be looking to cash in a bit and secure a more lucrative deal.
Yeah, I could see a little more. Maybe 2.2 or 2.3. Doubt he gets anywhere close to 3 as a cap hit though. MZA mid 2's, maybe closer to 3 per.
I think Zuc is going to get well into the 3's at a minimum. Not sure if the NYR will give it to him, but he is going to get paid next year IMO....
Would I go around 3 +/- for MZA...I think I would. If he wants 3.5 or more per I'd have to pass. Max would be like 3 to 3.1 or so for me. Good season, but one 19 goal 59 point season doesn't equal a long term deal for 3.5 mill per.
You are right Dis, I thought he was a UFA. As an RFA I bet he gets in the low 2's +/-. MAYBE he gets towards the mid 2's tops. Right now he makes 1.15 mill. Kreider will get a raise as well as a RFA.
I would have no problem giving Zuc $3m a year on a 3-4 year deal though. I dont think he is a fluke. He has great vision and playmaking skills and plays tough even though he is a midget. Another 60 pt year and he will cost you more than $3m
it'll be interesting to see how much Kreider gets. He's @ $1.3M cap right now and he should not much more than $2m per. This was his best season yet and it still wasn't anything special.
