My family and I will be going to the game on Sunday... anyone other than McCutchen to pay serious attention to? Also, looks like Nuno pitching and I missed Tanaka by 1 game? It looks like Gerrit Cole is pitching for Pittsburgh... Anything I'm missing?
That Neil Walker kid is a damn good 2d baseman, Pittsburgh born & raised playing for his home town team, got be a dream topper.
Only 1 thing I can think of: A #21 Clemente memorabilia piece. A moment of reflection of Roberto's Baseball Cultural Spirit, when you take a Moment of Silence, as you look with your Kids in hand, upon Monument Park. Home of Baseballs Finest Immortal Memories; comparable in short of Cooperstown...... I envy ya' Steve. To stand upon hallowed ground, smell the Park, hear its sounds, being like a kid with my kids, in heaven of Monument Park. What more doth life give more special...!!
Monument Park will more than suffice. I haven't been to Cooperstown in 4 decades. Almost like saying I've never been there. Only wish we had then, modern camera's, video to create eternal memories, other than in our heads, or programs. No one see's our old fond cherished memories, like pictures. Except our own old burned out brain's. (Speaking for myself of course)-a very distant memory is indeed more distant with time. Yet, I've realized, "one can travel near and far to distant shore, without stepping foot outside this door". Sorry to wax poetic.
Just make sure you take a picture of yourself 7 the kids beside the monuments of Ruth, Gehrig & Mantle. It would be a real keepsake for them.
I hope we can get there early enough to go down, but I am unsure if we will be able to this time. With Heather still not feeling well and us being a few hours away, we'd have to leave awfully early to get there in a timely manner to get down there.
I know you will make the most of the outing, without putting Heather in harms way. Have the fun you can Steve. I know you won't over do it. Besides Yankee Stadium will still be there next year, or perhaps in 100 more years. Tho' I won't be, I know Rick will, he's eternal you know....he was the 1st living man, and he will be the last too...... Not only did Rick help build the Pyramids, he excavated what we know today to be the Grand Canyon. People think the GC is a wonder of nature, not so, Rick built it. On top of that, he's the only one I know, who wears a Sun Dial Timex. Ask him, and he will show you where he signed his name on the Constitution..... I saw an old pic of the Panama Canal being built, and lo and behold if Rick wasn't in that Picture too. What has he not built long before (and after) our time.....? Rick gave Henry Ford the idea to use round tires, by showing Henry a quarter coin, cuz henry had square tires on his first prototype. The Wright Brothers, were some of Rick's first students. Jules Verne, also Ricks English Student. (just seeing if my friend is awake).
No rest for the weary Rick....were late for work. Those Antartic ice cubes have to be cut by someone. Someone who is experienced with ancient glaciers.
