Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban apologies to the Martin (Treyon) family. While being asked a question about the racists remarks made by Donald Sterling Cuban was quoted as saying,......... "We all have a certain amount of bigotry in us. If I'm walking down the street & I see a black man with his head down & wearing a hoodie walking towards me I'm going to cross to the other side of the street. BUT......If I see a bald white guy with tattoos walking toward me I'm crossing back over to the other side". So whats the problem? Well it seems when he mentioned a black guy wearing a hoodie he UNINTENTIONALLY brought back the memories of Treyvon Martin. So Cuban apologized to the Martin family saying he should have used a different example. but over all he stood by his remarks. Now, I'm not a big fan of Cuban but I saw NOTHING wrong in what he said
I had no problem with Cuban's remarks either....I appreciated his quote: (which I've been trying to enlighten people for years with the same point). ""We all have a certain amount of bigotry in us". I have yet to meet one person, who does not harbor some prejudice, albeit everyone has a prejudice or pre-disposed order to dislike something or someone in life, albeit people have shown disdain for over weight-fat people, or anorexic skinny people, smokers, non-smokers, I personally appreciate a good doctor, yet I have met more quacks who call themselves doctors, some dislike Cops, others pedophiles, or Felons, Drug addicts, the point is simple, every human being is pre-disposed to dislike some aspect of life or the human race. Academia professors despise illeteracy, illeterates despise over conscious teachers who have no patience or compassion to teach others to read or write. Show me one person who does not have pre-concepts, concepts, assumptions, even likes and dislikes to something or another, and i will show you a person who has lived in a closet all their lives. It is only human nature to not accept such things they have either been taught to not like, or have made up their minds to dislike or like specific things, persons, et al. from their own relative conditions, be it one thing or another. I personally dislike drivers who don't give a shit if they run you over, and are discourteous enough they shouldn't even have a license to drive. Some gun fanatics, dislike non-gun enthusiats, vice versa. Politics, show me one clean politico and i will show you a closet crook. To reiterate it is human nature to choose, and/or determine their own bias. If you want to call them choices that is fine, yet overall, these can be construed as bias, prejudice, or bigotry. Trash of all colors and creeds exists, and every human being, is pre-disposed to like, dislike, have their own bias, even tho' many would claim, a bias against over weight persons differs from racists, bullshit..... it all comes out of the same mindset. I agree Rick, people need to loosen up and realize what Human Nature really is, and not be penalized for telling the simple truths, in lieu of having to sugar coat bullshit......It still tastes the same. What the hell ever happened with Free Speech....?
No need to retreat in fear if he is allowed to exercise his 2A rights and either concealed or open carry as individual states permit. Yup I said it...Zimmerman and Stand Your Ground. Personal defense handguns are never racist, and bullets do not discriminate. Cuban was an idiot for even speaking up, using an example that he has no real world experience with. He would never need to cross the street because his armed body guards would be protecting him. When did America become so pussified? Cross the street away from a guy he just racially profiled? What a tool. As for apologizing to the Martin family, I don't get that at all. That kid doesn't represent all hoodie wearing thugs does he?
Oh it still exists Rob but apparently not for everyone. And your comments are very well put. Thank you for stressing my point. And Cuban's.
...if people really wanna help get rid of racism?...stop talking about it so much. ...The United States of the Offended.
...apparently that's a one way street. If Mark Cuban says something, it's racist...but if Jesse Jackson says it, it's freedom of speech.
Jesse Jackson, running around saving the world instead of teaching his kid not to rip off the public trust in Illinois and then having the gall to choose which prison he'd like to go to. Betcha Jacksons kid was happy to go to a "white collar" prison, can you imagine what his life would have been like had he been placed in general pop at a standard institution.
I agree that the media has done a great job of fanning the flames of situations like this. Why this was even a story is beyond me.
Touche- I wonder how many of the people who read or heard this story have ever walked the streets of Dallas or Fort Worth in their lives, let alone day after day, week after week. Year upon year, the greater Dallas area, was ridden with homicides beyond the National Norm. For a decade or more, in recent years, Dallas has led our country with random senseless homicides. I can't blame anyone in the greater Dallas area, for wanting to walk on the other side of the street, or let alone carry a concealed weapon. Cuban has also been known to NOT take a security posse with him in the many places he goes about conducting business. A man with his wealth, stature, almost a household face, (in my house he is), I too would have reservations about where I walked, esp. in Dallas. Perhaps he should take a posse everywhere with him. But then that would cramp his style, and he wouldn't be the candid Mark Cuban. He calls it like it is, regardless of whether people can handle the truth.
That's my point Rick, he shouldn't be using examples that he truly doesn't understand from actual experience. He put his foot in his mouth because he had no situational awareness of the scenario. He was an idiot for trying to think he could relate to people that have to walk the tough streets.
Right, smart enough to listen to his handlers on damage control. But not smart enough to self edit because he loves the sound of his own voice.
Yeah he's definitely a big mouth & I was never a fan BUT.........he'd get my vote to buy the Yankees.
I'm gonna call a spade a spade here. Look, race is the only card the Democrats have to get people out to vote in November. The opposition is energized by "insert scandal", from Fast&Furious, Keystone, IRS, Bengazi, NSA, VA, and the lesser issues of EPA and BLM over reach. I'm not even including Drone strikes on US citizens. None of those items are partizan issues, this isn't Red vs. Blue....this is big govt gone wild and eroding your Constitution and the protections it affords you, your children, your grandchildren and so on. Racism are beliefs. It can only be actions if those beliefs are the underpinning. If you read and listen carefully, the left characterizes all actions in racial perspectives, so as to create an atmosphere of fear and intimidation. They have no interest in the underlying beliefs because they can just define and mischaracterize those from their interpretation of the observed actions.
LOL....hey Tom, what is the Score by the way....? Who's the visitors and who's the home team? I know both sides can't claim home field advantage, or have they? Last I looked, I thought & correct me if I am wrong, the score was -4 to -3. "Indeed, we are perfect, in our imperfections". (The Homeless Kodo)...!!!
