And obviously nearly none of them commit murder. Less than 1/10th of 1 percent of the American population commits murder. I wasn't implying we could prevent or cure mental illness, because I don't believe we can. Like physical diseases, we find a cure for one, a new one pops up right away. That's the downside of evolution. Just saying that with better care for everyone who needs it, less people might end up killing people.
No. People are able to suppress their animal instincts because they can reason. The Romans who flocked to the colosseums to watch gladiators fight to the death or to watch Christians eaten by lions are the rule.
I don't think OLD people should have guns. Our eyesight isn't too good, we might end up shooting up a car driving by thinking it was a bear. barfo
We travel in different circles, it would seem. I've met thousands of people in my life and only a few dozen had violent tendencies. Each had severe mental issues that contributed to or caused their violence. Anyone try to kill you lately? Are you frightened when a stranger approaches? People are mostly really, truly, genuinely good. Except for a few sociopaths.
It's quite obvious that the first tool man used was to hit some other man over the head to take something. Darwin is about survival of the fittest. Man kills like any other animal. Do you realize how many cows, pigs, chickens, turkeys, etc., are killed every year? Billions of chickens alone in the USA. Ever hear of Rwanda? Darfur? That's mass murder not committed by some lone lunatic. Why do people carry guns for defense? &c
