http://m.espn.go.com/general/blogs/blogpost?blogname=new-yorkyankees&id=75634 Saw this piece it's quite comical, and a testament to just how pussified parts of this country are. How is a clip of the flip going to make both sides uncomfortable? Really?
...you beat me to it...I chuckled when I read that part....like you said, why in the world would that clip make DJ feel "uncomfortable"?
That's totally ridiculous, its one of the plays that defines who Jeter is on the field. It was a great play. And yeah, how the hell that would make ANYONE uncomfortable is a mystery to me.
And its not like any of those Oakland players are still there. Who is gonna get sideways...Beane? Not likely. Giambi? Well maybe for not sliding, lol! Are they worried about the fans? They can't fill that stadium as it is. You got one shot to honor a guy that will part of the pantheon of MLB HOFers. From my perspective it took a 1-in- a-million play to beat the A's that series, nothing for Oakland or its fans to be ashamed of, they too are immortalized by "the Flip".
Damn, I just checked Attendance figures and Oakland is way down there at 22K average per game. Everytime I hear Pleasac talking about those "Swingin A's" you'd think they were drawing to capacity. The current unit though is successful placing well in the standings despite the alleged castoffs and no names they possess. Glad to see the Yankees waking up because they owned the Yankees last year and out at their place since 12. Don't know what the legal aspects are with getting a new park but they sure need one, that park has sucked from day one.
Been a long time since I've been to Oakland but it was a real crap hole then and from what I read on urban areas now it ranks with the very worst.
Shame on those brain dead bastages....!! If another Team, especially the A's are going to show Jeter some respect, one would think, they would show the best clip/flip of his Playoff career...! But then I guess Oakland Fans are still crying over that ALCS loss, as well as if they see it again, there will be exceptionally extreme long lines, at the Psych offices for the next month, if they have to re-live the pain of reality, of a game, played more than a decade ago.....I mean, its not the Loma Prieta Quake disaster of 89. It's a G'damn game for Christs sake...!! A great one in history at that. If indeed one has to learn how to be a good loser, before they can learn how to be a good winner, then A's Fans are doomed to failure, regardless of their records in the future or past....those are some screwed up heads in Oakland....! Worse a dump than L.A.'s barrio ghetto's....! As horrid as it gets...!
Jete should take the opportunity after a weak grounder to 2nd, to jog back to the dugout and cross over the front of the mound....for old times sake.
Or better yet, after the 3rd out, as Jeter leaves the field, have him cross over the in front of the mound, have McCann stay in position, and toss his glove to McCann, let Brian make a pseudo swipe, IN THEIR FACES....lame fans...in Oak-Lawn...!
