I think if they decide to rule out Altidore for the remainder of the WC, they can add a player.

I keep starting to watch, I get caught up in the elegance, athleticism, and excitement of the game, and then one of those greasy little euro-douche hipsters goes down like he was hit with a sniper rifle and I get sick to my stomach and change the channel.

Teams can't add/replace any players at this point.

I think the best case scenario is the USA beats Portugal so they don't need any points from the Germany match in order to advance, and then Altidore returns for the knock-out stages. If the US is runner up they would play their first knock-out match against the winner of Group H on July 1st. It's probably wishful thinking that Altidore can return by then though. I'm guessing the US team will be coy about his return even if he is definitely not returning as to not give away their likely tactics before a match, teasing all of us along the way.

My workplace is having a World Cup party today - a lot of international workers so a lot of World Cup watching going on. Hopefully no battles break out at the party.

Gutted for Iran after that performance. Also eff Di Maria... I think he's still making his way off the pitch.
