Re: NBA trade rumors He shot 37% from 3 as that's where he likes tp take most of his shots. He allows us to run similar sets with Aldridge out of the game and loves Portland. Robinson, Aldridge or Lopez would be in the game with him and are fine rebounders. Batum is a great rebounder for his position. We would be fine
Re: NBA trade rumors if thats true then they have no shot at Love then. Thompson/waiters/Bennett arent going to get you an allstar let alone an all nba player. Sent from my SM-G900P using Tapatalk
Re: NBA trade rumors Can you prove this? (SOMEbody could because there's almost certainly a stat site somewhere with the relevant info.) There are some players (notably our own RoLo) who help team rebounding despite having fairly underwhelming personal numbers because they're doing great jobs boxing out and such like. Frye's benefit would be on offense - he would pull the opposing center out of the paint freeing up greater OR opportunities.
Re: NBA trade rumors I looked for Frye's weight on line and saw 245 and 263. I don't know why but I am always curious to know the real measurements.
Re: NBA trade rumors http://bkref.com/tiny/cOzjp Frye versus who he'd replace in the lineup (Freeland). You lose 2 rebounds per 18 minutes, but gain 3 points per 18 minutes. I guess that's the tradeoff.
Re: NBA trade rumors Hearing Suns' Channing Frye will definitely opt out of his deal (player option for 2014-15 at $6.8 million). If that happens, I'm sure the Warriors will go hard after him, and that he'd be interested. There's mutual respect between Frye and Steve Kerr. Look who is interested in Frye. If GS had their way they would trade for Love and sign Melo and Frye as FAs . . . and somehow figure a way to make it work.
Re: NBA trade rumors GS is in like every single rumor. Wouldn't it be funny if they ended up not doing anything?
Re: NBA trade rumors More rumors: Ric Bucher: Sources: KLove deal to Warriors is dead. Love "unlikely" now to be dealt before draft.
Re: NBA trade rumors Interesting numbers. Look at the offensive vs defensive rebounds. He' just a bit behind Freeland in defensive rebounds, but significantly behind him on offensive rebounds (per 36). This makes sense because on the defensive end, he's guarding the other teams big, and in position for a rebound. On the offensive end, he's essentially playing the wing position up top. If you played Frye with a good rebounding wing like Batum, I think you could make up for that deficiency. I like Frye, but I'm not sold that you need your bigs as outside shooters. I'd rather go after a big that's a solid rebounder, and when they do shoot, they stick to the high percentage shots down low.
Re: NBA trade rumors USA Today reports the Rockets have "lined up" trades for Omer Asik and Jeremy Lin, but will execute them only if they can't land LeBron James or Carmelo Anthony in free agency Sound like something Olshey could be involved in? But not sure how we give Rockets cap space . . . (We could use both those players)
Re: NBA trade rumors Lin and Asik are owed just under $15 million apiece next season. Due to an unusual provision in their contracts, however, their actual cap hits are closer to $8.4 million apiece. Edit: Can watson be used as an expiring contract?
Re: NBA trade rumors Apparently LMA does the same, since Hickson's TRB% went down this year while RoLo's went up. Hickson had his career high two years ago at 20.7% next to LMA. It dropped to 18.3% this year with no LMA boxing out for him. RoLo had his career high at 14.5%, vs. 12.9% last year when he was boxing out for Anthony Davis. :MARIS61:
Re: NBA trade rumors I don't know if it was just a throwaway comment, or a poor assumption that it would. But last year, for Frye, the team's TRB% decreased when he was off the court. DRB% decreased as well.
Re: NBA trade rumors Take a look at Hickson's on/off playing with LMA in 2012-13, and compare them to 2013-14. J.J. is a joke without LMA next to him. http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/h/hicksjj01/on-off/2014/
Re: NBA trade rumors Does that hold true for anyone who trades for them? In other words what deal is Houston looking for that benefits them the most in terms of cap space for Melo? Besides an ending contract.
Re: NBA trade rumors they are going to look to trade them to a team with cap space, likely with some sweetener (picks/ prospects) in order to shed the salary completely from their cap. in order to sign melo or whatever the fuck they are thinking
Re: NBA trade rumors I don't understand to detail how it all works, but reading an article (assuming writer understands), they are looking for teams with cap space, expiring contracts and/or future draft picks
Re: NBA trade rumors I'm not wed to the idea of a three-point bomber big guy, but you need people who can shoot similarly to the people they're replacing if you're doing a "system" offense. In the case of TRob and Frye, you'd reverse who they sub in for, and play them as a burly body (Robin/TRob) who can do the pick and roll, and a willowy midrange shooter (LA/Frye). Freeland and TRob are two poor shooter with no range together, and the system fell apart, because no matter how well Mo emulated Dame, or Barton/CJ emulated Wes or Wright emulated Batum, the lack of spacing because nobody needed to really defend Freeland/TRob hurt. Frye helps that by keeping defenses more honest. Spacing spacing spacing. I bet adding a legit shooter at the PF position and keeping everyone else the same would see our bench improve just because there'd be less need for Moffense, fewer broken plays, and more offensive consistency as players are brought in and out gradually.
