He'd never come here, but he's such a big name, and he makes so much money off of his shoe deal/other sponscerships, does market even really matter for him? He could play in Utah or Milwaukee and he'd still be the most popular player and on ESPN constantly. It's a shame this isn't the NFL where we'd have a chance.

Lebron will come to Portland! Once a year if he's in the Eastern Conference, more if he's in the Western Conference.
I just think its funny how NO ONE in the media is even mentioning Portland. It's not like Houston is that much more appealing or realistic. Portland could just as easily make it work financially as houston if Lebron was set on Portland. And from a basketball and city standpoint, how is Houston more appealing than Portland? (Dont even bring up the no tax thing, thats ridiculous.)
I think Lebron will come to Ptd . . . . . .on his way to Beaverton to meet with Phil at the Nike Campus. With Lebron you have to think outside the box if you want him to play with the Blazers . . .move the team to Seattle and convince him he can become King of the West. Seattle might be a big enough city that he will play for the Seattle Blazers.

Houston can clear cap space around 19 million in fact to sign Lebron outright. Giving them a core of Beverly, Harden, Parsons, James, and Howard easily the best starting 5 in basketball. Aside from not needing to have Miami agree to a sign and trade they have no income tax so Lebron gets to keep his 19 million. Portland could come up with enough money as well if they could find someone to take Matthews, Robinson, Freeland, Wright, McCollum, Leonard and Claver. That is 7 players they would have to deal and while Matthews, Robinson and McCollum would likely be easy it would take extra assets to get rid of Freeland, Wright, Leonard and Claver. Portland would have zero seconds (already gone from last summer) likely lose 2 firsts, and would have a bench of Crabbe and Barton. Plus I am not certain that a lineup of Lillard, Batum, James, Aldridge and Lopez is better than Beverly, Harden, Parsons, James and Howard. All that is likely why you have not heard Portland seriously mentioned in the Lebron stakes

Claver is surely out the door already, and I just read on Twitter that Fenerbahce (Turkish club) wants Freeland. Not that I think (a) Freeland wants to go or (b) there's a snowball's chance in hell LeBron would ever think of coming to Portland.
Define "can". Isn't this assuming that some other team is stupid enough to pay BOTH Lin and Asik a full $15 MILLION EACH this season?
What we don't know is that Paul Allen has his own teleporter and will let LeBron use it so he can live in Miami (or somewhere hot where they won't suddenly all hate him) but play in Portland.
I wonder if Houston really is attractive. We made them look pretty bad, Harden has proven he folds like a cheap suit under pressure and nobody liked Dwight Howard before the whole underage girl stuff. Somebody mentioned Atlanta going for it. They'd be interesting, if only because players seem to love the city (it's certainly hot) and maybe, just maybe, fans might show up if they had LeBron. Would they be able to clear space for BOTH James and Carmelo?
